WoW hits five million subscribers
We've
seen it gather 1.5 million customers to its banner, then
3 million, and now World of Warcraft has done it
again, hitting the big 5,000,000 at an easy stride. It's hard to imagine the huge numbers of people worldwide playing, thanks to sharding and the complete separation between regional versions of the game, but it's amazing to think of the equivalent of the entire of Scotland, Finland or Arizona all playing WoW. Even if you only ever encounter a few thousand of them in-game, you're likely to run into WoW players in all sorts of odd places these days.
Blizzard have well and truly hit the mainstream, so let's all raise a glass of egg nog to them!
