I just looted a Mysterious Unhatched Egg!

I saw this thread in the WoW.com general forums, and it really got me thinking...there are a TON of really weird (sometimes entirely useless) items floating around Azeroth.I remember grinding in Winterspring with my first level 55 toon, and I came across a Mysterious Unhatched Egg. Being still somewhat of a noob, I didn't take notice of the gray lettering of the item name and I thought I had come across something pretty special. I linked it in guild chat and was told by the higher-ups that it was useless and I was, in fact, still very much a noob. Bummer. Thinking they might be wrong, I hit Thottbot, and sure enough, it was indeed useless. But it does sell for 19 silver to a vendor, so from that angle, the only mystery in regards to the egg is why the vendor wants it so badly.
The thread in the forums has a lot of great examples of weird in-game items, such as the Shiny Dinglehopper, Worn Running Shoes and my person favorite: A Frayed Knot. A Frayed Knot always reminds me of my go-to joke when trying to impress kids on the playground in elementary school. Needless to say, I was not the coolest guy in town.
Do you guys have any weird items you hold onto just to link from time to time? What's your favorite?

I still have about 2 Dwarf Spines and 13 Human Bone Chips that I keep in my inventory. I call the former my "lucky spines" and sometimes keep them in my backpack while raiding, being an Undead Mage and all.
As well as the staff (can't remember the name) used to light the flames on the towers in the Searing Gorge, just because it looks like a Staff of Hale Magefire, which I have yet to get. >

I have a "Fishing Hook" and a "Cat Figurine". I read that the Cat Figurine is supposed to spawn some tameable Ghost Saber, but I have yet to try it out with a Level 20+ Hunter. I have no idea what the Fishing Hook will do for me.

The best worthless item I ever found was an 'Old Teamster's Skull' I found while fishing in Brightwater Lake. ALong with the description ("Looks like someone didn't like this guy."), it made for the most hilarious find I had ever made.

I pickpocket usless stuff all the time. Broken Electro Lantern, Empty Hip Flask, Hickory Pipe. All usless. I always try to get some sucker to buy them in the AH though. I sold a couple of Broken Electro lanterns to some poor bastard for a gold each!

My Fav is "Pet Rock". It's a rare pickpocket item off the furbolgs in Azshara. There is gold text on the item that says: "It looks happy".
I love my pet rock.

To 8: I believe that Cat Figurine is a reference to the Forgotten Realms character Drizzt Do'Urden... actually to his pet (I don't remember the name) cat that could be summoned from another plane of existence using a... Cat Figurine. Not sure if that WoW one works though...

just an update on the Cat Figurine.
The item by itself does nothing. It's just loot from the Cat statues in the Ruins of Mythystra (Darkshore).
Looting Cat statues will cause a Ghost Saber to randomly spawn. Then 2 options are open:
1. If you are a hunter Lvl 21 or higher (cos the Saber may be Lvl 21) you can tame it.
2. If you are not, you can kill it, and hope it drops a Glowing Cat Figurine
Glowing Cat Figurine (Unique BoP item)
Use: Summons a Ghost Saber to fight for you for 10 minutes.

BTW, it's not such a rare hunter pet now, since i have seen 2 hunters tame it over the weekend. but it's got nice attack and cool look.
