AddOn Spotlight: EngBags and Advanced Bags Plus

Unlike most of the mods I've been posting, EngBags is a pretty new one to me, but I'm already in love with it. It's an all-in-one bag window that sorts your stuff for you -- trade goods go in one area of the window, quest items another, etc. Brilliant and a little bit demented. It's highly configurable, which can make it seem a bit daunting, but the default config is pretty good. I always found keeping my inventory organized a bit of a chore, and now I've got a mod to do it for me (though I do occasionally have to reassign things' categories for best effect).Advanced Bags Plus is a slightly different solution for the same problem. It replaces your five bag icons in the bag bar with a modifiable number of virtual bags for different item categories. It seems slightly easier to configure than EngBags in terms of which items should go in which categories, but it keeps multiple bag windows, which I don't like as much, having used AllInOneInventory/OneBag/Bagnon and the like pretty much since I discovered mods.

Meh. vBagnon is better.
While I agree that inventory management is a must, these are like ghetto version of vBagnon. Check it out. It's clearly superior. You can search your inventory and create custom categories based on every item/slot/quality type from which you can show/hide or even drag into their own virtual bags.
It's sweet.

I like and use vBagnon, but it automatically merges any stacks I put into a bag. Pain in the butt when I only want to sell 10 of my 20 dream dust at a time.
Of course once auctioneer comes back that won't be as much of a problem.

the problem i have with bag addons is that with my professions i frequently have to swap bags at the bank when in town to do some crafting and the addons make this a pain to make sure i do not leave behind my mount etc in the bank!
any of these addons allow to to specify categories of items that do not get put in the bank?

Thanks for the vBagnon tip -- I had thought it was just a OneBag type mod, so I disqualified it for combining stacks. But if it sorts, I owe it another look.

Eng + vBag =Tbag. Tbag is da bag. =) Used Eng for years and loved it. 2.0 sent me searching and I found this gem. Check it out also.

Monkeyhouse- Tbag lets you assign a color highlight to bags. So you know "exactly" what items are in a bag at any given time. Feature is toggle on/off. I also use a nifty addon called Mr. Plow to compress my bag inventory. Its just nice to know I have a "empty" bag sometimes or makes bag "upgrading" a snap. Ever had to disable a bag addon to upgrade to mooncloth bags anyone? Please look at Tbag, it addressed all the issues EngInventory had but has nifty search and organization features like vBagnon, too.

I used vBagnon from 2.0 and I found it to be just another All-In-One Inventory.. Unsorted and unruly. I could never keep track of any of my inventory with vBagnon. Being a mage, having to spend a minute to find that extra stack of water or food in my backpack is annoying as all hell..
Ever since I found engBags, I found my life a lot easier. Yea, you have to configure it for about 10 minutes to get it organized, but after that, it can't be beat in terms of usability... Have fun searching vBagnon for that specific trinket or item you need in a clutch situation (ie. PvP)

@7: If you can't find something in vBagnon, then surely you haven't set it up right. For stuff like water, potions, etc I have set up a category for Consumables and if I want to I get nothing but those displayed in my bags. A trinket category comes with it right from the start. And in a hurry, /find will open a separate window with just that item. Don't confuse Bagnon with vBagnon, two entirely different mods.
