The naked Night Elf (who does more than dancing for gold)
Our old friend the Naked Troll has a new fellow nudist (or a rival, I guess, depending on whether you play PVE or PVP). AntiTweak is a Night Elf Druid who's leveling her way up completely naked ("without weapons or armor," she says), and livejournalling the whole thing.First, I'll get the formalities out of the way, and say it's an accomplishment for both of them to do it, and that both are taking on (and succeeding at) pretty impressive feats. They're great, good for them, and so on.
But more importantly, let's decide: which is harder? A Druid definitely seems harder to level naked than a Hunter (the class Juffowup was leveling with), but then again, Druids can heal and Hunters can't. But Juffowup definitely used weapons, and AntiTweak isn't using any. But AntiTweak seems like she's getting a lot of help from her boyfriend and guildies, and I think Juffowup mostly played with only his pet. And let's not forget, Juffowup plays Horde, and Alliance is EZ mode...
Whoops, did I say that last one out loud?
AntiTweak's latest debate is whether potions count as "armor and weapons" or not. I say no, but then again some PVP duelers consider potions cheating, while other PVPers drink pots in battlegrounds like their life depends on it. Whatever she decides, grats again to AntiTweak. I'm kind of glad she's doing it, just so I don't have to.

See, mine appears to be welded on. So I can't get naked, not for dancing, not for levelling. Not for gold nor silver. Not even for copper.
Sigh. I want that skill that everyone else seems to have.

I believe it is easier to lvl a Druid because of their healing ability and forms. Granted she won't be wearing armor but the forms can give her a lot of what she would need. Bear = Armor, Cat = Stealth and Attack, Moonkin = Bonus to Magic etc...
A Hunter on the other hand relies a lot on their pet and traps (which he will have) as well as their long ranged weapons. What makes Hunters so "OP" (as people like to say all the time) is the fact that even without the traps and/or pet their long ranged abilities are so strong. It is because of this I believe a hunter truly relies on his weapons. If Juffowup wasn't using weapons (which he is) I'd say it would be harder on him but in this case it is harder on the druid.
A side note: I wish Horde players would stop saying that the Alliance side is "easy mode” compared to the horde. I understand that a lot of people believe only young children, n00bs, etc... play Alliance (which of course there is no proof of) but nonetheless it is not easy mode. The horde has a lot more territories (meaning non Contested) then the Alliance. Most Alliance towns fall within contested territories (usually not far from Horde regions) giving Horde a large advantage to terrorize/gank Alliance characters all of the time severely slowing down this so called "ease" that alliance players have when leveling. Of course I am obviously referring to PvP server's since that’s all I play. Maybe, though I still don't see why, but maybe on PvE or RP servers it is in fact easier to play the horde but I wouldn't know...
Also, for anyone interested in trying out Alliance but hasn’t because of how many people supposedly play Horde feel free join my server. Currently my server is a very rare one indeed the last time I checked Horde players out number Alliance players 3 to 1. If you are interested the server is Jaedenar.

Funny how each side says the other has EZ mode. My guildies are forever saying that about horde and horde say it about ally all the time. Maybe if everyone lvled a toon on each side they'd see that it's pretty much the same... I know, on PvP servers you can only do one or the other, but there are other PvP servers and also PvE servers out there.

I have an Alliance toon I started and abandoned, mainly cause of player encounters with other Alliance folks I encountered.
I can say that the Alliance starting zones feel more polished and refined, almost... finished. The quest chains are clear cut and usually tightly grouped from round lvl 1-20 from zone to zone. Were most of the Horde areas are more spread out, more traveling, some chains lead to various areas inconviently in the much earlier levels. When each side hits the contested/shared areas I would say most are on par for traveling and chain convience with a few curve balls on either side, but the early levels are pretty quick and convienent. Could that be why most new BE are former Alliance with 35~45ish Mains? I think so, cause that's when it gets tougher.
Now as for Alliance having mainly children, I and no one else will not have concrete proof BUT when a majority of BE players I meet in the starting zone are 14~17 year previous Alliance players who like regular elves over purple ones, it leaves something of an impression. Not to mention behavior of most Alliance players I grouped with and the serious population imbalance of "pretty" race players to the "ugly" race players seems to paint a pretty good picture of more youthful and socially inexperienced players. Again no proof just one guy who's been on both sides of the fence with an opinion. One I think most folks who've played both sides probably have.

If you start debating wether potions should be used or not, you could do the same for buffs given to you by other players.
I played a warlock bank alt to 53 without gear or minions, but I did use conjured items and consumables when I found them (or when alts had leftovers). Getting a buff from another player was great; when you don't have gear PW:fortitude or Arcane Intellect are soooo nice :)

Night Elves, Gnomes, Dwarves and now Draenei all flood Goldshire because the Human starting zone is where that's at. NEs and Draenei especially can't seem to get out of their starting areas soon enough.
Deadmines is one zone away, the quests are clustered and easy, there's tons of resource nodes and places to build skills, flights are short, etc.
Orcs, Trolls and Undead all have instances in their starting zones - for Orcs and Trolls, its _inside the capital city_ - and there are _three_ instances in the Barrens, but the quest chains are not as simple.

Horde is easy mode on a PVP server. Horde can lvl to 45 without stepping into a contested area. Try doing that as an alliance on a PVP server. I bet you won't make it past STV without qq'ing your little eyes out bc horde 60's camp STV to feel better about themselves. Well, I guess it'll be easier now that the gankers are all in the outlands.
I personally rolled a shaman first... talk about easy mode.

It seems to me that neither side is really EZ Mode, as so many people put it. I've played numerous alts in every race on both sides, and feel that the only real difference is aesthetically... let's face it, most of the Horde areas are friggin' dreary. Compared to the quiet forests of the Human and NE zones, or the Dwarf/Gnome snow zone, the Horde have either rotting forests or desert.

I find it very hard to believe that either side is easier or harder than the other. But, I've only played Horde. I had no reason to roll Horde other than that's where my friends were playing and I wanted to group up with them. One of these days I will roll an Ally and see what the big deal is...

Buruko, I see where you are coming from and from that point of view I understand. I hope I did not convey that I only Alliance because that is no true. My first toon was Horde on Steamwheel. My second toon was Alliance on Jaedenar. I have played both sides and in my opinion neither seemed to be easier then the other. I honestly believe it has to do with people's opinions. I know in the game it is a war between the Alliance and the Horde but I believe to many people bring this feud out into RL. The amount of times I have seen another WoW gamer at Best Buy or Game Stop who will ask me what character I typically play and when my answer isn't always strictly "Horde" their attitude changes towards me like I'm evil or below them.
All I am saying is I believe each side evens out. Being that I play both on different servers I feel both was just as complicated as the other though as a Horde in PvP I had a lot more areas to gank then I did as an Alliance player.

Having read this, I have been inspired to try this for myself (morbid curiousity) with a blood elf warlock. I am also trying this without guild help atm. Currently she is only lvl 10, but I have to say despite the massive death and ghost running I expect, its been pretty liberating so far... I find myself looking around more at my environment than I did before. I ran her around to meet the Elders to get a pretty festival dress, and thats pretty much it as far as gear goes. I am not planning on using weapons. I did take alc/herb and will be using potions and scrolls. I wouldn't say I'm on a death wish, but I have no fear of dying now... the spirit healer and I will be hanging out alot I think. :D

Even though my druid is 67 man do I remember some painfully slow leveling at some of the lower lvls - you could not pay me to go through that unarmed or armored. Ugh. Meanwhile I always love this idea that there's some huge difference between players in Horde vs. Alliance, or in ease of questing. Idiots and good players exist on both sides - the types of people playing do not change. Annoying Barrens chat is equal to Westfall and Goldshire at its worst. Frankly I never understand why everyone doesn't have at least an alt on both sides - you get different quests and see different areas - a whole new game opens up and otherwise you miss out on content. Not to mention you can easily scout out what areas to avoid or stealth into. I'd probably take my orc shaman to 70 if more of my friends played Horde. Meanwhile I love to hear of a raid being planned and hop into an alt to watch the fun. And no, I don't spoil anything by alerting the masses to what's coming. Other people usually have alts to do that anyway!
