Keep keyloggers away: New Microsoft hotfix available [Updated]

Back on March 31st Eyonix warned us of a newly discovered Windows vulnerability that could have resulted in keyloggers landing on your system. At the time, Microsoft did not yet have a patch available, meaning that Eyonix's best advice was to "be careful." However, today Microsoft has released hotfixes for all versions of windows that should resolve the issue. So if you're running WoW on Windows, I highly recommend that you run Windows update or visit Microsoft's site to download the hotfix as soon as possible. Trust us -- keyloggers are bad, mmkay?
Update: Drysc has made a post regarding this subject highlighting the fact that this patch isn't a keylogger cureall. Says Drysc:
The patch released doesn't stop someone from downloading executables and running them without the proper precautions, and you can still be susceptible to keyloggers, viruses, trojans, etc. The update released by Microsoft is a very specific fix for a specific way that a keylogger could end up on a Windows machine, it doesn't protect you from obtaining a keylogger or virus, it merely patches one specific way you could get one. It's important that you be proactive about your computer and its security.

Don't download everything you can click on and you will be fine. ( just use firefox if you don't feel safe )

Also at Nesrior, ActiveX means you dont have to download anything to get the key loggers, they ninja into your pc :P

so how much sympathy does blizzard have for stolen accounts? a friend of mine had her 70 lock deleted by her jackass ex who knew her password and she got it back from a GM with no fuss at all.

My account got jacked and 3 toons and my bank toon had all vendorable items sold, except my main, by pure luck I logged while the thief was selling his items. I bumped the thief and saved the gear main was wearing but nothing else. I did the ticket thing got lots of sympathy and with in 24 hours had ALL items returned. So maybe content can be frustrating, but in a business sense I was completely satisfied.

i just recently got my account jacked, because my friend was over looking at his realm forums and clicked a random link. i thought that it was kinda suspicious, so i ran a virus scan, and it found the trojan and "deleted" it. a few days later, i log in and play for a bit, then go out of town. i come home 2 days later, and i'm banned. i checked my armor profile, everything but my offhand is gone. yay. still waiting on a response from blizzard. i sent them everything the virus scan picked up about the trojan. this blooooows.
