New noncombat pet found in Zangarmarsh

She says she got this "very rare" pet after 586 Bogflare Needler kills, which seems like a lot, but then again, it might be worth it: the flavor text on the pet says "Still flying..", which is a great reference to the super fun and canceled-before-its-time Joss Whedon TV show that this little guy seems to be named after. If you don't want to kill bugs for the rest of your life, the pet is BoE, so you might keep an eye on the Auction House as well. Grats to mfirefly for such a cool pet!
With all the crazy pets that are coming out lately, can anyone really be a noncombat pet completist any more? Is there anyone out there that really has caught them all?

That ROCKS. I LOVE the fireflies of Zangarmarsh! And an actual Firefly tv show reference too? I'm going to do whatever it takes to get one of these. This is insanely cool. I've never farmed for a NPC pet in my life, but I think that trend ends today. So cute!

Hmmm so you think Bliz would post a non combat (excuse the reference) Pokedex? So people I guess can run around Azeroth/Outlands spamming "Gotta Catch Them All!" ---- *sigh I hope not to see that spam in game.

Khevyn on the Argent Dawn server has a HUGE assortment of non-combat pets. I hear he's running out of bank space FAST.

I tried to keep up with all the non-vendor pets in the game (starting with my Zergling) but unfortunately there's no way to do so without spending a lot of money. There's the monkey from the card game, baby murlocs from different conventions (with different colorings for different countries), a golden pig from the recent event in S. Korea...
I also unfortunately missed Children's Week the first year they offered pets, so I only have Egbert and Speedy. And I didn't have the cash for BC:CE, so I didn't get the netherwhelp.
But I have gotten some pretty cool ones. Besides the Zergling, I've got Peddlefeet, a Dark Whelpling, Jubling, Mechanical Chicken...I could go on.
I've been after a Hyacinth for a LONG time, but I may have to settle for Miniwing (which is also very cool).

Just hot it after 154 kills of bogflare needlers.
By the way, the picture above makes the firefly look much bigger than it is...it is actually kind of tiny.

I have a reasonably practical mind. Minipets mostly irritate me more than amuse me, at least with my tauren druid. They contribute nothing to combat except being a distraction and occasioanlly getting in the way of clicks. Plus, if there are any other players around, when i stealth, i don't want my position given away by some bird.
Yet, i have the heart of a collector. How can i resist getting these things by the dozen? >_< It makes me wish my mage were a higher level. I could put up with having some spirit of flame or insect following her around. But she's only level 34 or so, and she's making slow progress because i'm channeling my desire to collect things into collecting mounts on my druid.

Be prepared to spend a week or two of nonstop farming. I'm over 700 kills in with no bug. Probably a 1 in 1000-2000 chance drop.
