Enchants on the AH in WotLK
On the French-language EU forums, Blizzard poster Thyvene gives enchanters a hint of news on something they've been wanting for a long time: the abilitity to sell their enchants on the auction house. For those of you attempting to confirm on the site, but failing your language skill check, Thyvene's comments approximately translate to: The developers plan to give to enchanters the possibility to sell their enchantments at the auction house, nevertheless this shouldn't be implemented into the game before the next expansion, Wrath of the Lich King.
Of course, without knowing an official release date for Wrath of the Lich King, this change could still be a year off. However, I'm certainly looking forward to a time when my enchanter won't have to stand around in a major city spamming macros in oder to market and sell my wares.

This will also give me reason to finish leveling enchanting on my alt, who's been hovering around 280 (for the last year now). I don't so much want to sell enchants on the AH as I want to enchant my main's gear. If I can create a scroll and send it to my main, that would be wonderful.

When TBC came out, I had a level 5 enchant mule that got nerfed. So, I levelled him to 35 to get 300 enchanting ... looks like I'm going to have to dust off his rested XP in the coming months =/

I leveled two toons in enchanting over the last couple of years and I pretty much enchanted my own stuff, friends or just sold the mats on the AH. I always dreaded the idea standing in IF spamming a macro when my AH toon using auctioneer made me money when I was sleeping or at work when I put relisted items on the AH.

I'm taking a break from WoW and my account will expire Oct 15. This is one of the features proposed in WotLK that will doubtless bring me back.
I'm a 364 enchanter. I know that enchanting was supposed to be a social skill, but the expensive materials completely ruined any chance of that. People don't realize or at least refuse to realize how much a respectably powerful enchant costs to cast. And the tips I've gotten are a joke. After explaining enchanting to a guy for 15 minutes, helping him buy the materials on the AH, and casting the enchant on him, I got a 1g tip for a Major Spellpower to Weapon. Forget it. I'm done with that. And with people giving enchants away for free (with materials) it isn't like the AH is going to encourage undercutting.
This expansion can not come too soon.

Why is it so hard that it has to wait for expansion? We've been able to get some enchants from vendors (glyphs and orbs and stuff to enchant shoulders) or librams (arcanum of... for legs and hats) for a long time. This is the same thing only player made.

Personally, I can't wait.
All this means is that you're going to be able to find Mongoose (or whatever the melee enchant-du-jour may be when WotLK comes) for DIRT CHEAP because:
1. People will undercut each other BIG TIME because they're leveling their enchants and just want to recoup some of their costs;
2. People will undercut each other because they're unloading enchants on the AH and just want to make some gold. (We've all got stuff we bought and left in the bank for weeks; eventually you just say, "ah, well, I guess I'm not going to do that I was saving these for" and just dump them;
3. Noobs who have no clue what they're selling.
Of course, the QQing from enchanters who are trying to make money off this will be legendary!
When will people learn: Primary Professions DON'T make money. (DISenchanting does; enchanting does not, generally.)
Herbing, Mining, Skinning: That's it.

1g tip?! That's pathetic. I typically give 5g for easy low level stuff (+24ap to bracers), 10g for higher enchants (+35 agi weapon) and 15-20g for rare enchants (+12 agi boots).

The enchant-du-jour will, almost certainly, be a max rank one like Mongoose. So you won't be doing it to level.

On my server people already do. You do enchants for free given the mats, and expect tips. If it's a decent enchant, and the tip isn't anywhere close to what I expect given the amount invested in the mats, the person gets blacklisted by me and they don't get enchants again.
I do agree that you can't expect to get much money, if any, off your professions though.

This was announced during BlizzCon, during the first WotLK presentation...
I figured it was common knowledge by now...
They said that the mainstream enchants would be able to be made into saleable forms (I.e.: +35 Agil to weapon, +6 Stats to chest), but more specialized enchants (I.e.: Mongoose, Cat's Swiftness, Soulfrost, etc...) will still only be available from Enchanters directly.

Actually at Blizzcon during the proffesions panel they re-iterated that enchants would NOT be avaible on the AH, they did however say that inscriptions WOULD be avaible on the AH. So them changing their mind now is a u-turn.

Totally agreed, #4 (and curiously, I'm sitting at around 280 myself). I don't enchant for anyone except close friends and myself. I look forward to this arriving, but agree with the poster who asked why this can't happen sooner than the expansion.

I don't think unercutting will be a problem. Sure it may sell faster, but the more expensive enchant WILL get sold. Its like Enchanting mats and primals. Unless they are overpriced, they will all get bought.
I'm more interested to see if you can sell the enchants without the mats :) Since materials almost always cost more by themselves than as the end product, you would technically make more just selling the mats. It would be nice to be able to sell just the enchant itself (say 10g for +35 agi) but the buyer has to own the mats. It may or may not be viable. We'd have to see.

Even with normal AH undercutting by those lacking economic sense, this will be a big improvement IMO. I don't know how many others did, but for a lot of my enchanting leveling I tended to just enchant something I had over and over again because finding people who wanted those enchants would take too long. With this, there's a chance of profit even while just leveling enchanting like that. Also I never much liked the idea of having to stand around in cities for a chunk of my play time just to be able to make any gold at all.

I have a few of the rarer enchants, but I do not spend my time hanging out in major cities spamming chat trying to sell them. If I see someone asking in trade for a chant that I have (most common is +12 sta to boots) I will whisper them and figure something out. This way I don't waste my time, and I still recoup some of the money that i spent/lost leveling enchanting.
