Engineering crafted flying mounts confirmed

Gyrocopter pilots of Azeroth, your day is coming. So says CM Bornakk today in the official forums. He mentioned both normal and epic mounts arriving in Test Patch 2.3. He went on to clarify where Blizzard is on the development of these:The specifics of the mounts, such as skill and materials, isn't finalized yet, but we really want to get this mount/machine/gizmo into the game for engineers to enjoy. Whether it is easy or a challenge, the road to it will begin in 2.3, keep an eye out for when it hits the PTRs. ;-)
This news is so cool, makes me want to go out and level up engineering. But the question now is: what form will this mechanized flying mount take? WoW Wiki has an entry on gnomish flying machines from Warcraft 2 and their evolution into dwarven gyrocoptors and then gnomish biplanes.
But where's the line between fantasy and science fiction in Azeroth? Is Engineering just another kind of "magic"? What form would you like to see the engineered flying mount?

My alt gnome warlock engineer has been idling at 55 while I concentrated on my main in Outland. Her engineering is already up to 352, however. And now her time has come.

Gyrocopters or ornithopters. hey should be noisy, smoky, and totally incapable of flight in the real world (meaning no airplanes). The landing animation is a controlled crash (with matching crater).
Gun systems for engineer-on-engineer aerial duels are a must (at least until the propellers are shot away and are forced to land/crash).

See, now, I'm glad for engineers... but really, it's unfair if they are the only professions that get craftable flying mounts. How about enchanters get flying carpets? I hope these wont be BoP...

No they won't be BoP, but like everything else Engineering they will require Eng 375, not to mention riding 300.

How about a copter that will only allow Gnomes to use, and every other class in the game gets a heat seeking missile launcher that can destroy, knock them out of the sky and provide them with perma-death?
Yes, I hate Gnomes and all the goofy bastards that play them thinking thinking they're the sh1t, and no Fizzle, Foschnizzle, Snickets, Pigglewiggle aren't cool or funny names, only you think they are - everyone else hates you.

As far as i can see, Azerothian technology has always been the clunky, old world science kind.
I'm sure Blizz designers will go for continuity.

Let's see, we have a race of aliens that crash landed their ship and joined the alliance. We have always had guns. There are shields with rotating parts and obvious mechanical systems. Teleportation systems, and instances floating in space that are just mechanical/magic hybrid technology ships.
This game has always had steampunk as an influence. The gnome mounts are mechanical!
I play to enjoy my paladin flying about on some crazy looking contraption that might fall apart at any minute.
I think there should be 3 different mounts. The generic should be some strange gyrocopter sort of thing. The gnomish should look like their planes in that evil instance. And the goblin version should be effectively a missle with some stirrups, a saddle and a joystick that has an 8-ball on it.
All of them should look dangerous to use and be funny as hell to hear.
I would even use it over a netherdrake...

@13 what is your problem with Gnomes?
I hope they come out with something. Unless you are a hunter Eng is really useless.
