Mrrrrgllhllrrll in real life
Okay, it probably grosses less at the theater than "Dan in Real Life", but this picture, sent to WendellGrave by one of his guildies, definitely looks like a real-life murloc. Our own Arturis suggests that this is a sculpture made from a fish body, but I think we can all agree that whatever it is, it's really quite ugly.
No word on why this was created, but it does remind me of the Fiji Mermaid. The Fiji Mermaid is a popular attraction at carnival freak shows. It's a "mermaid" usually made from papier-mache and fish parts, with a dash of monkey thrown in. For those of you disappointed in this fakery, I present an indisputable real-life tauren, as well as the warlock epic mount in its natural habitat of the Ford Mustang.
Is this an accurate murloc or not? What do you think it's made from?

Knowing an old friend who used to make amazingly realistic sculptures from clay, this might be a clay sculpture with textured paint and a slightly reflective sealant.
Either way, it looks amazing. If I ever saw one of these in real life, I would definately scream "OH MY GOD! IT'S A MURLOC! RUN BEFORE FIFTY MORE APPEAR!"

Seems to me its one of those deep sea fish, that have the little light thing attached to there heads, the body of a Slitheen (from the newer Doctor Whos) and Duck feet :s

Actually, the general populace is unaware of the fact that this creature exists in real life, and this is a perfectly-preserved specimen (scientific name Murloculus Spawnawholemobbus Mrgglglrggrl-us). Them folks at Blizzard merely appropriated the creature for their use and made it look all cartoony-like for the game.
And, to quote the scientific journal I'm basing this on, this specimen is "full of awesomeness and win." :)

fish bodies are an extremely popular sculpting meduim. i say that is a perfectly reasonable and well thought out answer.
no. its not an accurate rendition of a murlock but its still cool looking murlock inspired creature.

I'm no expert, but it looks like crab legs for the arms, the aforementioned deep-sea fish for a head, and duck legs for the feet and legs. The only parts I can't identify are the upper and lower torso and the hands (ostrich maybe?)

There's an artist (probably more than one) who creates things like this via "hybrid taxidermy" - I don't remember the name of the site I saw this on before, but there are snake/turtle hybrids, cats with one eye and tusks, etc.
