Breakfast Topic: How is the alt coming along?

With the Patch 2.3 leveling increase changes, many players stuck at the level cap have either created new characters or dusted off forgotten alts. Logging back in at lower levels is quite a rush at first. From the lightning-fast rocket ride of the first 10 levels to the new express train to Outland that is now available to all pre-60 characters. It's easy to ride the wave of enthusiasm inherent in playing a different toon.
My question to you is: has the thrill worn off yet? Does it feel like a grind (albeit a quicker one)? Is the different class you're playing live up to your expectations? Or are you so happy with your new class you may make them your main?

I am a little disappointed, just silly little things like I remember the challenge of stranglethorn fever. 3 waves of gorillas hectic battling. Now it is 3 gorillas and thats it. Also I was able to solo the creation of the mallet of Zul'farrak. It just felt to easy :( But I guess it will get me to outland quicker which means I can get in on guild runs etc so I cant really complain.

When 2.3 went live (Nov 14th over here), my hunter was 42. Now he's 63. 'nough said ;)
Actually I hit 60 right in the middle of the WPL. I hadn't visited the EPL, Winterspring, Silithus or the Blasted Lands at that time, just because I leveled so quickly. It really is a huge difference. Sometimes I thought they are overdoing the XP a bit, like with that bread crump quest that leads you to the Alterac Valley guys in Hillsbrad. Usually you would get 850 XP for that, but now you get 9550 XP. For going there, saying "hi!" and leaving. 9550 XP. Crazy.

i am a casual player and i have a well loved tauren shaman that i play solo (the others, including my main i play with my wife) and was in the mid-40's slog.
since 2.3 i have gone from 47 to 50 with my hour or two here or there and it has been fun. i might say it has actually been too easy.
but i know what is waiting for me in outland so that is good and it means i can explore some of the higher level areas a lot more as i have only been through them once (maybe twice) before.

My paldin got 7 levels in the first week, he was 33 I think or 32 and the wensday a week agther we got the patchon on EU he hit lvl 40.
Can't wait until I have a horde and alli lvl 70.

I'm now playing a Shaman on Moonrunner, and though she has yet to hit 20, I'm enjoying Shaman so much that I'd probably not have got my Warrior to 70 had I started one sooner.
I'm so getting my shammy to 70 before WotLK comes out!

I have created a new Dranny Shadow Priest, though she is lvl 2 i fully expect her to hit 70 before WOTLK! She shall compliment my Druid Nicely.

It's definitely much, much faster - that much is certain. And I love my new Druid - she might just become my main. And whilst it's awesome that thousands of new characters are levelling through the same zones and questlines together, it seems a little sad that all the content they should be grouping for is now soloable.
Still, I can't complain. At least Stitches and Hogger are still elite. That's what really counts.

Unfortunately, by the time the patch notes about xp increases was known, my "main alt" was already in the upper 50s. He's a warrior, and my guild has a need for tanks, so I wasn't going to let him sit for an unknown amount of time until the patch.
But once he's ready to raid, I'm turning to that druid that I rolled last year and then let sit at 34 all this time.

I like all classes so, I have all 9 toons. My main is the Shadow Priest and it was decided 2 months ago, althou I'm playing for a year. Seems lame? Well... I like to play with them all. All classes are above 40 now and I ran Razorfen Down with my lv36 Rogue and now and then - TUFF! - lv38. Did more 1h of quests and then 40. That was really amazing... :)

I've got my horde hunter from 28 to 39 since the patch hit, I'm loving the XP boost, I've always been a really slow leveler. If I can get him up to 70 in time for the next expansion I might just make him my main.

Unfortunately, I still have to work on my 66 Pally because my guild needs more tanks.
For nostalgia's sake, I want to get my 51 Hunter to 60 and my level 30 Druid to 60.
The Druid was my first character! :'D

Having touched em yet! I still have 20k honor to grind until I reach the cap in preparation for the 27th, and seeing how this is AV weekend I should be able to get that by tomorrow. That's when I'll dig back until an alt

Thankfully with the introduction of Guild banks I have the opportunity to rationalise my collection of 6 bank/trade alts, hopefully down to 4. Then I can create the Rogue I've been longing to make and level him quickly to Outland, where the real fun begins these days.

I likes it.
My goal is to get my alt to 70 as a much needed tank or healer (hybrid class) in our raiding. So having as little foof to deal with on the way up is helpful indeed.
The grind feels like less of a grind.

I was interested to note that not just 20-60 has become faster, but apparently all quests 1-60 have their droprates massively increased, I got a harpy belt each kill in Teldrassil when normally it's like 20%.

My Draenei Hunter went from 36-46 real easy. Just hit 46 this morning (6am lol) after hitting 45 and 44 earlier that day/night/w.e you wanna call it.
He may become my main 'cause I really loathe tanking. I'm good at it, I just find it a lot more hard to solo and stuff. And if I mess up we wipe, that's always a plus.

They should have adjusted rested. That would have helped the casual player. Instead of it being a grind it has now become a race. More quests with less running is always a plus. How much time have we spent running from one place to another and then back again?

I cruised to 60 then got to around 63 and then the grind started, now I've been stuck there for days, I think I'm gonna give up till my rest builds up. Having to get a million XP at the normal rate seems huge.
And then theres the gear up grind at 70. When they lowered the heroic difficuty it seems like a lot of people are skipping this, we had a group last night where the tank (me) was pushing more dps than 2 of the dps classes in the group, who were dressed in half greens. Yea, we had to call that run.
Sure you can do 1-58 in like 100 hours compared to like 200 now, but it's still around 150 hours to get 58-70, and (for most people) it's still at around 100 hours or a couple runs through all the normal instances or many hours of PvP until you replace all your gear with level 70 blues for heroics or raids.

Since 2.3 I have made a level 41 warlock from 1, and a level 45 priest from 1. And that's with play 2-3 hours a day. The new exp bonus is pretty good, but like a lot of people are saying, they have dumbed down the game so much it's hard to play. Every damn quest item in the game sparkles and you can see if from a mile away, that is if it doesn't put a giant question mark on your minimap.
And for you people saying "I hope I get to 70 before Wotlk".. We still have 2.3.2 2.4, and a few more patchs before Wolk, you probably have about a year to get to 70, I think you can handle it :P
