MMO Guildsites turns one

Today, the popular guild website-hosting service MMO Guildsites turns one year old. The celebrations kicked off with several nifty prizes awarded, as well as a look back on how the service has evolved with the growing needs of its users.

Unfortunately, if you didn't already have an account, you weren't eligible for prizes, although should you sign your guild up, it's only one year until the next round. Here's a look at what you could have won:

  1. Nvidia 8600 GT video card - congratulations First of Many
  2. Logitech X-230 2.1 speaker system - congrats Overload
  3. Logitech G11 gaming keyboard - way to go Apocalypse
  4. Steelpad headset with microphone - hooray for Suncrown
  5. Nvidia 7900 GS XT video card - congratulations Avalorien
  6. Nvidia 7900 GS XT video card - won by Conceited
If you're intrigued (or jealous...) then let's take a closer look at what the service has to offer.

The tool box
If you use Firefox, you can keep tabs on your guild's website without even having to be logged into it. Using a handy little add-on, you can see who is logged in, a list of upcoming events, and receive notifications when you have new private messages.

Don't have an MMO Guildsites? Never fear! They have a tool that is open to anyone. The WoW Armory Character Info Generator will allow you to take an armory view of your character and place it on your blog, social networking website, personal website, and more. Check out Eliah's review for more details.

The nifty features
MMO Guildsites works with Google Maps to bring your guild its own mapping system. Once your guildmates have signed in, and entered their information, you can view a map showing the location of each of your guildies. When you mouse over a specific marker, you'll see the name, location, and a photo of each of the player's characters who reside there.

In addition, they have a guild bank feature which allows members to keep track of all possessions, including who is making donations and withdrawals. For World of Warcraft specifically, they have automated DKP using CT_RaidTracker, armory and item tooltips, server status, and more.

If your guild is looking for a hosting service for its website, or is thinking about switching, MMO Guildsites is worth considering, although there is plenty of competition out there. Which hosting service do you use, and what do you like about it? Do you pay for hosting, or do you prefer the free websites?
