Should lower levels get Daily Quests?

Player Cursethyfoe of Cenarius can't get enough cash together on his pre-60 toon. He suggests turning some simple low level kill and collect quests into Daily Quests. He even points out some already existing quests that would be ideal in certain level ranges.

But CM Bornakk shoots down his suggestion, saying that Blizzard hasn't seen any cash flow issues with lower level and mid-level players.

I have to agree with Bornakk. Low levels shouldn't be farming the same content continuously. There is more than enough content for them to explore and make cash doing it. High level Daily Quests are fine when you are already level 70 and are willing to grind the same old quest.

Lower level players should roll up in a corner and die since they haven't hit max level since the patch.

Ah ok, a serious reply then. The whole point of daily quests is that at max level you run out of quests in which to do, thus leading to a shortage of available gold-producing options short of professions. A player not at max level does not experience these problems, as there are always more quests to do as that character levels.

i totally agree, have never had trouble getting money for mounts. you don't HAVE to have your mount as soon as you ding! In case of my first 60 it was a long time till i got the epic mount. Having just gotten my 2nd epic flyer i did this without doing dailies, therefore i would have to say that there is plenty of content and plenty of ways to get gold already provided by blizzard. I found the best way was playing toons only whilst rested, this way my two mains hit 70 without ever having stepped foot into netherstorm or Shadowmoon and only just started BEM.

Well i havent had any problems with getting money for any of my mounts, and ever since they lowered the price for the epic ground mount it shouldent really be a problem

If the reasoning for daily quests is for money, I don't think they should do it. Part of the experience of leveling up is being dirt poor and deciding between repairing or buying your next skills.

I remember way back when I started my pally in Dec of '04 a friend of mine had been playing for weeks and came along and gave me 75 silver! That money was HUGE for me and I never had to run everywhere since I had money for the gryphon.

If it's done for leveling, then zones are bursting at the seems with quests and places to explore for the first time leveler. There is no need to add repetitive quests into the mix when leveling is already a grind to an extent and is even more accelerated now so you aren't "stuck" in your mid 30s, 40s and 50s like you used to be.

I don't know of any restrictions on the BG daily so I can see you doing it as twinks (unless there is an XP component to it I don't know about).

Nah, daily quests are bliz's bone they threw to us to give us a way to make cash without truly "grinding".

Lower levels are poor? You take mining and skinning (or herbalism) and you will have enough money to buy yourself gear upgrades every few levels, max out your bags, and will have the money for your mount in the mid to late thirties.

theRaptor is dead on correct. Want potions? Don't take alchemy. Just buy them with the tons of cash you have by selling all the ore/leather/gear you've found while leveling. Crafting professions are a money-pit while leveling. When you are 70 and swimming in cash, you can grind a crafting profession to your hearts content. I have 2 50ish toons who are currently doing this (on separate servers) and money is never an issue, even when splurging on blue/purple gear.

Since I have alt-itis, I wouldn't mind getting a stipend at every level to help ease to cost of raising a new toon. Those younguns can get expensive!

But seriously, no. No dailies needed for lower level toons. If you just gotta get the feeling of doing a daily, collect fabric for the fabric donation takers and turn it in. Or make a game of it where you collect 50 of the same useless gray item before selling them for silver. Whee! Hang on kids!

Look, the money we get from dailies are based on the XP to Gold thing right? Soooo... if lowerlevels got to do daily quests, then they would only get XP, and they can get that anywhere.

If so, I have to agree, don't let low levels do dailies, they can get there XP from other sources.

Just stay away from the Auction House and pick up EVERY item you find. You don't need new gear every level, even if you did just learn to wear plate or mail. Once you have your mount, you'll be able to make money and level up faster, and that'll make up for the slight dip in your gear quality.

Planning ahead, be sure to buy the biggest bags you can afford so you can carry as many vendorable items you can.

If you're worried about not having an epic mount when you reach 60...don't. Seriously. You'll make the money on your way to 70, and once you're at 70 you can do dailies for your flying mount.

Actually, relatively few of the daily quests are available to 70's who lack a flying mount (I believe it's half of the cooking quests, the four bg's, and probably the dungeon ones unless there are some in TK, all of this assuming you don't have a personal Warlock taxi service of course). Moreover, even with a basic flyer, you're looking at a harder time with bombing runs and no access to the entire Netherwing faction until, ironically, AFTER you've completed the single largest cash sink in the game.

agreed. The one place to splurge is on big bags. You can offset the cost of upgrading by selling your smaller bags, as most aren't soul bound.

This becomes even more important in outland, when a grey sword can net you 2-3g, buy the netherweavebags- on my server, they go for 6-7g, and they pay for themselves in about one day.

I got MY mount at 40... I just got 90 gold as I dinged. The only things I bought from level 1 to 40 was ammo, skills, and the occassional repair. Other than that, I hoarded everything I got, sold it away, and even ran groups through RFC for a couple gold. It was totally worth it, though. It's a pretty great sense of accomplishment.

Two comments:

1. If Blizzard really wanted to put the gold sellers out of business, replacing the riding skill trainer with a questgiver of some sort would get the job done in an instant. Travel is a very frustrating place to put a timesink to begin with, and allowing people to bypass a major timesink by obtaining gold using whatever means necessary only worsens the problem.

2. I'd love to see a daily quest for 1000 Timbermaw rep. Or Argent Dawn rep. Or Cenarion Circle rep. These factions gate rep rewards that just aren't worth the time anymore, that might suddenly be attainable again if there was a daily quest to speed rep gain. Or how about crafting daily quests? I'd love to turn in some of the many many useless items my alts make to skill up in exchange for fresh materials to continue my training. The daily quest is a perfect mechanism that's already in the game to allow rewards like these without completely eliminating the time it takes to accomplish them. I'll agree that sticking a repeatable flag on miscellaneous quests just to get more exp/cash out of a favorite farming camp is a lazy idea, but that doesn't mean there isn't a niche for daily quests for low level characters.

I like the idea of daily quests for lower level characters, but I agree completely that lower levels do not need more ways of making money.

Perhaps, however, rather than offering gold or loot, offer a sort of title buy system. Characters could get a "Defender of the People" or the like. Just nice little pat on the back, but nothing that actually gains you anything. Kind of like the old low rank PvP titles.

Personally, I think it would be great fun to do daily scourge cleanup in Ghostlands and stuff, or actually patrol Westfall.

We have to remember that not all of WoW is 60+ or 70. It would be nice to support the lower level population to make them feel like the game does care about them. If Blizzard only adds late game content (where it is always definately needed, mind you), it could turn away the very casual gamers or those who simply aren't concerned with leveling.

More objectives are always good, but rewards should be given with care.
