WoW Moviewatch: 9 Crimes

I know I say this every time, but it bears repeating again: I am constantly amazed at what Machinimist are creating these days. The latest entry in the "How Did They Pull That Off?" category is 9 Crimes. This video, set to a haunting song of the same name performed by Damien Rice, is haunting, evocative and one of the best love stories I've seen set in Azeroth. But don't worry, it's there's plenty of battle footage in there as well.
If you are not familiar with Damien Rice's work and enjoy this song, I also highly recommend you check out "The Blower's Daughter". It will stay with you for a long time.

Very much felt like a Final Fantasy cut scene. I liked it.
Loved how the Priest was duel wielding swords and the warlock had a mace though. :)

I'd have to agree, well done quality wise, but not my taste at all.

ugg. Damien Rice's music is seen as "good" because it pulls at the heart strings, but that is not the same as writing good music. Being good at doing that does not make you a good musician.
You want to hear some good solo stuff? Listen to Iron and Wine. Just my opinion.

Iron & Wine is good too, but there's no reason to say Damien Rice isn't a good musician.
It's not your taste, that's obvious, but he is a good musician.

I agree with you, in theory, but not practice. Damien Rice is a great musician, and is phenomenal at what he does ("pulling at your heart strings"). But in terms of pure craftsmanship I would also give the edge to Iron & Wine.
If you like either, i would highly suggest checking out Jose Gonzalez. Very Talented.

Man, I love Damien Rice. This was a very well made video and told a very long story in a short amount of time.

I think machinima will become better and better the more video-production majors who have access to high quality editing software like After Affects and Final Cut Pro play the game more indepth. I'm kinda suprised he used Adobe Premeire and not FCP, but i guess thats what he has access too.

I listen to both Damien Rice and Iron & Wine. :/ Although I'd prefer Sam's The Trapeze Swinger over any of Damien's songs. :)

I'm afraid i couldn't really hear some of the lyrics, and what i could hear didn't make much sense. Maybe i'm just not a sentimental kind of fellow.
