Celebrating the new year with a GM
A guildmate drew my attention to this interesting video of the New Year celebrations outside of Ironforge on the US Proudmoore server. Apparently, a GM appeared as a fire-spewing gnome and had some fun with the players gathered to see the fireworks. Check out the video above to get a complete look at his antics.
I haven't heard of anything like this happening on the live servers before, and decided to poke around some of the realm forums on the official site to see if anything else interesting occurred during the holiday. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any other similar reports of GM activity. Did anything like this happen on your server during the New Year's celebrations?

We had a GM mess around with us on Jubei'thos about two weeks ago. It was just before Christmas. He was, like said above, throwing people around, lots of fireworks, and changing people into Hollow's End critters. It was pretty cool. I didn't see most of his antics, but he was posted in front of UC doing some weird things. Then he went to XRoads and got a lot of attn there.
A video was posted on YouTube about the Jubei'thos GM encounter. It was pretty cool.

Plus, it's possible that players are not in the same timezone as the server. In which case, New Year's (midnight) on server time may be noon the next day for some people (not so bad to be online... although they may have terrible hangovers!)

Yes, this exact same thing happened yesterday on the Silvermoon server. I got about 80 pics and about 500 lunar festival fireworks.

Proudmoore is my realm, and now I'm regretting that I didn't go check it out. I was online at the time (around 4PM on New Year's Day, server time) but I was in Shattrath. Lots of people were talking about it in the trade channel though.

Just to clear things up;
1. This was NOT new years eve. I spent New Years eve with some friends counting down the clock just like everyone else. So enough with the "OMG why'd you wanna spend new years ingame" comments. This was new years day. Jan 1st. The Day when everyone sleeps in and wakes up with hangovers then has nothing to do but sit around watching tv and playing games.
2. This is not a private server video. This was Proudmoore. Anyone else who saw it can confirm this.
3. This wasn't "staged". I don't know the GMs. I was 2-boxing in windowed mode about to run my newb through Gnomeregan when I stumbled across this event. I always have fraps running in the background, and have it set to hotkey for recording. The GM flew people off the edge and turned them into critters for 25-30 minutes straight. I had plenty of clips to choose from.
