PTR Notes: Class set changes
That was quite a big push to the PTR last night. In addition to Primal Nethers and Nether Vortices not being BoP, resilience affecting mana drain (which was buffed for warlocks), five new jewelcrafted trinkets, etc., several of the class sets were also changed:- [Paladin] Season 1/2 Retribution gear has resilience now (previously added, here for completeness)
- [Paladin] Healing arena sets 4-piece bonus changed to "Increases the healing from your Holy Shock spell by 30%" (was "Reduces the cooldown of your Hammer of Justice by 10 sec")
- [Druid] Restoration arena and PvP sets 4-piece bonus changed to "The casting time on your Healing Touch spell is reduced by 0.25 sec" (was 15% increase to the outdoor movement speed)
- [Druid] Balance arena and PvP sets 4-piece bonus changed to "Your Wrath casts have a chance to reduce the cast time on your next Starfire by 1.5 sec" (was 15% increase to the outdoor movement speed)
- [Hunter] Gronnstalker's Bracers: 22 haste rating changed to 22 crit rating
- [Mage] Season 3 arena set 4-piece bonus changed to "Reduces the cooldown of your Blink spell by 2 sec" (was 0.15 sec reduction to Polymorph casting time)
- [Shaman] Elemental Season 3 arena set 4-piece bonus nerfed to 50% chance to avoid interruption caused by damage while casting Lightning Bolt (was 70%)

rumor going around that feral druids got nerfed too by the set changes: the 15% speed increase now only affects cat and bear outdoors. i don't have my druid transferred to see if this is indeed the case.

From my PTR feral druid:
..."while in Bear or Cat form"...

lolz.... Shaman bonus nerfed. It's bad enough trying to get a LB off in the arena, now our chances are reduced even further by 20%. Hahah beautiful. Why am I not surprised.

Glad I quit playing my shaman.

I hate the fact that Alchemy will get quasi-nerfed by making high end flaks purchaseable. I am an Elixir-Master, and the only way for me to make a decent profit on my server was by making the few Flasks I discovered so far. So with one of them now readily available in stores, I can look at even less profit in the long run...

You realize the Mark of the Illidari require exalted with the Sha'tar, Cenarion Expedition and Scryers/Aldors.
On top of that they also require a Mark of the Illidari... A drop from SSC/TK and above... This change won't affect you much.

I like the Holy Pally gear change, along with the buff to Holy Shock, Paladins now have a semi-decent mobile heal. Ill have to get that fourth piece of glads on my pally and try it out.

My druid hit 65 yesterday. Five more levels until finally I can get rid of this stupid shaman class. And moonkin is already way, way more fun than elemental ever was. Why play a shaman if you can have much more fun with druids?

Well, the Resto Druid 4 piece bonus change hurts a little; mostly because it was replaced by something incomprehensible (healing touch you say... o.O). But something had to happen given the present level of Resto-hate (see the wow druid forums today and count the gloaters to judge for yourself), so I was resigned to the fact beforehand.
I do truly feel bad for the feral druids though. They seem to have been caught in the backlash. At least Moonkin may have come up trumps here if that proc rate is decent.
All in all, it could have been much worse for the "tree hugger legion". Just have to wait and see now if Blizzard keeps to its "baby steps" policy or if there is more store for us.
PS: Shaman. /sad for you

Classic Blizzard..
"Lets make resilience affect mana draining effects by up to 25%!"
"Ooh, good idea! But make sure you buff a warlocks mana drain by 30% at the same time to overcompensate for the changes - we want to nerf Priests so that it costs them almost as much mana to cast as it burns from the other player"
Time to shelf my priest till WotLK I guess.

Wowsers.
Flasks purchasable? Nethers are a commodity to be traded openly? Remind me what incentive there is to be a crafter?
Balasan Feb 15th 2008 10:35AM
really really imba early BoP 70 gear (and some end game gear too) that people who do not have the profession can never use?
If the only reason for you taking any profession is making money then you really took the wrong professions. Ever heard of mining/skinning or herbalism/skinning or herbalism/mining combo?
Taja Feb 15th 2008 10:25AM
Mage set bonus changed what? This was only in an early PTR build a 0.15 sec reduction on poly. The live version is already -2 sec on blink.

Yay! Ele shamans anti spell pushback just got buttfucked again!

@14 -- Not everyone plays WoW to "make money". I'm no role player, but I like a bit of sense and order and, yes, fantasy to surround my world.
I create my characters to be adventurers, not farmers.
I've been perfectly happy not selling my goods (for the most part). But that a craft that I have spent many levels and hours raising my skill to the highest levels now has two of its rarest items up for sale at a vendor.
I'm not in it to make the money. When I want to make money, I sell my spare mats, not my product. But it's part of the game economy and a connection between players that when someone wants a Flask of Pure Death they can ask in trade and I can come by and offer to make some. If everything is available at a vendor, we may as well be playing a single-player game.
How would the enchanters feel if you could stroll over to a vendor to pick up your Mongoose or Boar's Speed?
Matthew Rossi Feb 15th 2008 11:01AM
If you mean buy the enchant recipes, I'd be ecstatic.
If you mean but the enchants directly from a vendor, I'd be wondering why Blizz would implement that when they won't let us sell our enchants on the AH.

"How would the enchanters feel if you could stroll over to a vendor to pick up your Mongoose or Boar's Speed?"
That is an entirely differnt concept... Alchemy creates consumable items... Regularly used in raiding and other ventures. On my priest I go through roughly 2-5 flasks a week, 40-60 mana potions, and a handful of oils, foods, elixirs.
As for enchants... I get a new item needing a high end enchant every month or two...
This change allowing more flask to be purchasable will hardly affect the massive amounts of flasks/elixirs/potions/oils/foods needed for raiding.
