The Wow-ku challenge

A Japanese garden, the perfect spot to compose Haiku

So, you know what Haiku is, right? It's form of Japanese poetry. The most popular English version is 3 lines long. The first line is 5 syllables, the second 7, and the third is 5 again. All well and good, I'm sure you say, but what does this have to with WoW? Fimlys of the Asleep at the WoW blog posted a Wow-ku challenge a few days ago, asking people to make up Haikus based on our favorite game.

Here's a few I whipped up:

Onyxia? Old news.
Magtheridon? New hotness.
But Saurfang abides.

I Moonfire Spam since
Starfire cast time is too slow.
They call me Drood boy.

Silvermoon my home
Thy towers scarlet and gold
Call to me forever

I think I may have fudged a bit on the syllable count on the first one, but I like it, so I'm keeping it. I tried not to look at any of the other Wow-ku links Fimlys posted so I could have a chance at being original, and it looks like I did well, now that I check. It's a fun exercise, and I'm glad Fimlys thought of it. Seeing other well made ones is almost as fun as writing them, so if you want to try your hand, be sure to drop them in the comments.

Also, last line of the third one is a syllable over.

"Call(1) to(2) me(3) for(4)ev(5)er(6)."

Like 'em all, though. =P

Also viable for a last line on that one;

Last month I made up haikus on my blog at http://tadot.blogspot.com/2008/03/wow-haiku.html with one for each class. I still like my paladin one.

Wear lots of armor
Uh oh, a fight is coming
Bubble, hearth, and log

We actually had a thread on my old guild website where we came up with Haikus :P Here are the good ones I dug up:

Level 19 alts
Pwn me hard in Warsong Gulch
Twinked with all those blues

OMG, Ninja!
Warlock took my melee ring!
"Please go QQ noob."

Lament of the Paladin:

No more Holy/Ret
I am required to re-spec
Why? This raid needs Kings

Priest throws shield on Mage
Mage throws fireball and aggros
Priest watches mage die

SSC is done
For we've wiped till 2 a.m.
DEAR GOD! Give me sleep

Ground begins to shake
Fel Reaver smashes my face
Why?! Oh, Blizzard, Why!!!?

I refuse to heal
I am a prot paladin
No more groups for me

Rogue:
You stealth and then stab.
All clothies die by your blades.
I hate all of you.

Priest:
A prayer heals all wounds.
They do not touch little boys.
With a word they shield.

Warrior:
You crush all with strength.
Platemail is your very best friend.
You are a meat shield.

Shamans:
Frost shock is king.
Fear all the mighty totems.
Windfury for the win.

Hunter:
Have bow and arrows.
Let the pet do all the work.
Feign death, live again.

Mage:
Lords of fire and ice.
I feel like mutton tonight.
Dresses are manly.

Druids:
Guards of the forest.
Bears and cats and even trees.
They are all hippies.

Warlock:

I want a felguard.
