WoW Moviewatch: Super Duper Ultimate Edition Extreme

Super Duper Ultimate Edition Extreme is just another example of his experimental style. He wanted to add a bunch of cool scenes together to form a mishmash of awesome. Set to a soundtrack by Notorious B.I.G., he has the Horde invading Westfall, dwarven pilots, rallying troops, and the Alliance singing songs of inspiration. With a portfolio as versatile as Gnomechewer's, I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

I tend to agree with TotalBiscuit on yesterday's piece, but today's was nothing short of badass. I found myself wishing that he hadn't left some of the scenes to our imagination.

Terrific, and I am generally not a fan of the whole genre. The lesson here is the less reliance on emotes (especially from the Humans) the better. Excellent.

Ok, now we're thinking with portals. Unlike yesterday's ink-blotted avant-garde travesty, this work actually HAS a concept, and it's a good one too. Exceptionally unusual but well executed, the visual quality is stellar. It's safe to say I've never seen anything like this before. Who'd have thought of actually centering a WoW machinima around a bomber squadron? While it's not necessarily a coherent story, the concept is carried by it's good choice of scenes. It's not a story in the traditional sense, but it gives you a good feel of what's going on, without actually telling you directly. The choice of music 'just works', don't ask me why, I don't even like the Notorious B.I.G.
I loved the Starship Troopers, Lord of the Rings and Warhammer 40,000 : Dawn of War references mixed in there.
As a concept film, it works a hell of a lot better than yesterday's. More of this please, less overly arty rubbish.

Yea the choice of music cleary shows different genres of music can work beside the usual screaming emo rock. I've known about gnomechewer's films for awhile and their pretty good and he's not afraid to experiment.

Wow another great one; great choice of music though I wouldn't have thought of it, very cinematic and an excellent grasp of narrative.

I wish WoW was more like a war then this stupid common enemy between the Horde and the Alliance. I wish we could set up battlefields anywhere and just slaughter the crap out each other without the PVP rules. And be able to use cannons and the funny planes. Blizzard should go back to the RTS Warcrafts for some new fighting styles.

yeah but there is going to be some dumb rules and it will mostly likely be a battleground which is like AB and AV combined i have heard.

That was awesome. The ending with the Horde's amassed armies on Ironforge's doorstep was not only cool-looking but (as an Ally player) gave me a sense of ominous dread.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say this cat actually took some courses on film making. I mean, every shot had something to say without needing dialog, every scene and an emotion attached without being overly obvious.
I loved this damn short, it was like watching an actual movie. An actual WELL DONE movie. Loved the visual style, the editing and yes, even the parts he left up to our imagination were all done perfectly well. That is to say he didn't make the whole damn thing into one cliff hanger after another, instead he (or she, whatever) gave us enough info to figure it out ourselves.
I want some more, I want some more!
P.S. I didn't watch the other movie ppl keep referring too, so I can comment on anything about that.

All I can say is, very nice. The Horde marching in with cadence at the end was very cool.
Although, I really don't see the Horde making it all the way to IF. :0)

Hmm, Totalbiscuit makes a criticism about a Horde proud vid then posts a video that demonizes the Horde to the point of comparing them to Nazis.
Yea, I'm sure that opinion was totally non-biased.
Imo, both vids were good. Content can be great, but you don't have to say something to express something.

Opinions are, by definition, biased. I agree that both vids were good, though this was definitely the better of the two. Really captures the spirit of the Alliance, in my mind.

I dunno. Seeing as what the Horde doing in the game doesn't exactly paint a rosy picture of the Horde as a whole, so the movie's a pretty accurate portrayal of their politics.
Orcs are razing and deforesting Ashenvale, land that was never theirs in the first place.
Forsaken are making plagues to kill everything living.
BElves are traitors that think more about getting their fix than anything else and have little compulsion to kill those that saved their sorry butts a few decades earlier.
Trolls want to eat everyone well done with a side of french fried potatoes garnish.
And the Tauren are leaving their Kodo turds everywhere. Seriously, what the crap?
As a side note, why Westfall? It's a barren wasteland with little value strategically.
