Patch 2.4.2 surprised me

Not that it was happening, but rather that it added a really strange sound effect to my Bloodrage and Berserker Rage abilities. My wife described it as sounding like the mutant offspring of an orc and a murloc howling in anguish, and she's not far off. After a while I realized I recognized the sound as being the same one that plays when Horde shamans use Bloodlust.

Now, I don't know why, but while I accept the sound when it comes out of an orc, I have a really hard time hearing it when my human pops bloodrage... which he does a lot, since you know, needs more rage and all. This is reminiscent of the previous patch with the unexpected change to Whirlwind (also a sound effect change) and it makes me wonder every time if I just wasn't listening or if it's an actual change.

Furthermore, it always makes me stop and think about just how much development work goes on for things like new music in inns, new sound effects, a new pet model... these things all add up and it's a lot of work if you stop and think about it.

Have you noticed any other changes, undocumented or just stuff you didn't really think about?

Dude, I am so with you on that. I'm prepared to roll a Warrior just to use that ability as often as possible and hear the "Rrraughraughraugh!" noise.

It's kind of a cross between a bell and a choir. Hard to describe, but unmistakable when you hear it.

Well, Alliance Shamans have an identical spell called Heroism instead of Bloodlust, so it has a different sound, and this big chalice.

In the chat box it now indents when the text stretches into multiple lines. Buff to gold spammers imo :P

i think that was slipped in to prevent that prank where you type longer than a line in order to try to make the next line look like someone else's post. i guess that they had trouble with folks impersonating GMs with that.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the new sound effect either. It's the same sound used by Orcs when they sense stealthed players nearby.

Freaked me out the first time I heard it as well :)

Yes, I don't get why they used the Bloodlust sound, it's the roar of a crowd of people becoming enraged.

Do female characters make the same sound?

Has anyone figured out which main-hands are now one-hand? I kept reading "most" main-hands would change. I'm still wondering if 31 points in enhancement could allow shamans to dual wield spell damage and/or healing weapons.

Well, it wouldn't be an obvious choice to make even if it were possible. Limiting yourself to 30 points in either Elemental or Resto might not offset any potential gain in spell damage or plus healing.

Oh, and no other spell damage/healing class can dual wield, so it really would only be a potential issue for Shamans (and perhaps Death Knights if they can dual wield).

Assuming that it wouldn't be worth doing for elemental or resto shamans, it would be a nice little buff to enhancement shamans who occasionally have to off heal. Since weapons can be switched in battle, popping in two +healing weapons could up +healing by over 1000 given the right pair.

It would also be nice for enhancement shamans that find themselves in a situation that is rough on melee as a couple of spell damage weapons could really beef up their lightning bolts.

But, like the guy said, common sense tells me that caster stat weapons were not changed, which is why I'm asking...
