Breakfast Topic: Strange bedfellows

Here is a lovely picture of two Shamans that have worked hard for the Shattered Sun Offensive doing their Fishing Daily Quest together. Except, of course, one is Horde and one is Alliance. I, on the other hand, with my fresh "of the Shattered Sun" title, landed in Netherstorm only to be immediately ganked by an Alliance player who also shared the same title.
With all of the PvP action that happens on the Isle of Quel'Danas on my server (soloing the dailies is not recommended) coupled with the above incident, I have to say that I view Alliance with the Shattered Sun title as players who have possibly killed me. (It's hard to keep track of the names when they travel in large gank-groups.) So I'm not necessarily feeling the warm fuzzies about my fellow SSO heroes from the blue team.
Do you find yourself thinking twice about sparring with someone of the opposite faction that has the same title? After all, you worked for the same goals and helped the server achieve progression. If so, what are your stories about inter-faction cooperation? Or do you find that it doesn't affect your feelings toward your enemies at all?

I play on a PVE server, problem solved.
If I want to fight other players I'll go to a battleground, thanks.

You can still fight people on a PvE though, you're just not permanently set as PvP. However, I agree. When I want to get my PvP on, I go to a battleground.

Only problem I had on the PvE servers and the Isle was the opposite faction that would flag PvP and stand on top of the quest givers.

Leveled 2 70's on a PvP server. (Feral Druid and Rogue) Ganking wasnt much of an issue cuz i cud hide in stealth when the gankers came around. But when it came to leveling my mage, I switched over to PvE, and havnt looked back since. Feel kinda bad abandoning my original toons. =(

Looks like you need the VanasKoS addon Robin, managing KoS lists, sharing between vanaskos users, records, etc etc, so if you 're searching for a kos looser, you will find it quickly with it ;)

I currently play on a PVE server. However, I do miss the days of my first server which was PVP. I had a blast levelling and sometimes miss the constant wonder of whether I was about to get ganked or if that troll killing mobs a few yards away would turn and try to kill me if I were fighting when he was done.
However, one of the other things I miss is that during the levelling process, I had Horde allies as an Alliance player. There were about three or four members of the opposing faction who I seemed to be levelling at about the same pace with and often in the same area. When it was in a spot where both factions had a quest, we would watch each other's backs with the mobs. Kinda like partying, but not. If one was having trouble, the other would lend a hand. To have an upspoken friendship with the mysterious and nearly impossible to understand opposing faction was a really cool aspect of the PVP servers to me.
Only reason I play PVE now is because all my friends I knew before playing WoW play on said server because they claim PVP allergies. Either way, myself and another in my guild miss the days of PVP servers and we reminisce about all the good and bad of our previous lifetimes.

By nearly impossible to understand, I mean before they patched it so it was impossible to understand the opposing faction.*

No. Titles don't affect my decisions. However if they do something nice (/wave, /greet, or help me kill a mob or the sort) or they're more powerful than I, then I'll leave them alone. Otherwise...dead Alliance.

I play a resto shaman and the only times I ever group is either to heal heroics or raids, besides that, i'm a poor loner :P
I play on a PvP server but I never attack other players unless someone else who will help me will be around, if i'm alone i mostly stand there and /yawn
Besides that, I made a lot of friends on the forums so it's rare that I get ganked on my shaman :)

Oops, premature posting, What I forgot to say, I have my titles options disabled so I really don't care about it, on my other characters i'll still kill anyone title or no, I don't have the "-Of the shattered sun" title so I should care less about the other people's effort, right ?

as a rogue, i prefer to sneak up on members of the opposing faction, throw snowballs at them and then sprint away, leaving them wonder what just happened.

For what it's worth, that's a PvP Server, Daggerspine US. Also, I've had druid friends on PvP servers tell me they never attack another druid unless they're attacked first.

I play on a PVP server and titles mean nothing when dealing with the opposite faction (Horde). Having said that, I have received help from horde players at some of the most opportune times that it almost makes me believe that not everyone is a ganker.
Best example was leveling a warrior (was lvl 36 at the time)and doing the Whirlwind weapon quest line. I get to the last step and am by the questgiver on the Southshore/Hinterlands border waiting for a healer to come help me. For giggles, I figure I'll try the quest once solo and still have time to run back if I fail (I would have). As I start the event, I turn around and see the ?? Horde Shaman looking at me and think I'm cooked. Instead, he watches me, follows over to where the fight will take place and waits (to gank me mid-fight I figure). After I take about 3 shots at the boss I have to kill, he drops some totems and lights the boss up...we finish him off easily. He then /cheer's and heads off. He must have had a warrior who struggled through there once himself and I was forever grateful to him. I must have used that axe for 10 levels! :-)

The language barrier is the most ridiculously stupid and ass-backwards detriment to inter-faction cooperation *OR* faction vs. faction aggression in this game. It's completely unnecessary.
It seems retarded to me that a Human Mage can't tell if an Orc Warrior is complimenting his matching shirt and robe or if he's calling him "son of an angry drunken Ogre and a gout-riddled bar wench." If a Horde character is going to threaten an Alliance character, take out the idiotic middle-man that is the completely fabricated "language barrier." Then, rather than wondering what the Orc actually said, and risking letting his guard down, the Alliance character will know he's about to get in a fight. Leave the sneaky ulterior motives to the Rogues.
It even flies in the face of realism. How is it that every race created its own brand new language while simultaneously forgetting tongues they used to speak - all within the span of SEVEN YEARS? Blood Elves used to be High Elves, and High Elves had no problem speaking Common fluently. In WC3, the Kal'dorei, Orcs, Humans, Tauren, Trolls, Dwarves, Undead, and even the Scourge and the Burning Legion spoke the same language. Hell, here's the best example I've ever seen: Thrall, Jaina, Tyrande, Malfurion, and Medivh met at Hyjal Summit the night before Archimonde attacked and could understand each other.
If they didn't speak the same language, how did they not kill each other?

It's bad enough getting ganked by a 12 yr old undead rogue that's 40 levels above me. I don't need to know what he has to say about the matter.
