More signs of cold on official sites

It's Monday morning and new hints of cold have appeared around Blizzard's official web sites. If you visit the Blizzard corporate site, or the front page of the community sites, you got a crystallized image of ... something. It's pretty hard to tell what you're looking at, except that it's icy and maybe cavernous.
While this is pretty obviously a teaser graphic of some kind, there is no text or other graphics detailing what Blizzard's hinting at. It's a safe bet that the graphic is related to Wrath of the Lich King. Some speculation posits that we might be about to see the actual release date. Of course, it could be related to Ahune and the Midsummer festivities -- but I don't think so. I also don't think this is a mistake that's going to be reverted -- since it's on the corporate site and the official sites, it seems purposeful. We'll let you know more as it happens.

Others have speculated that it's related to Diablo 3 (but what that has to do with ice/crystals/cold is beyond me).

This is the first sign WOTLK is just about ready to be released. Usually when Blizzard announces a title the game is done. Ever hear of the Blizzard saying "It's ready when we are done". Well they announced it so it must be done.

Also on the main page of the offical WoW site, the Burning Crusade logo on the upper left corner is half blue and icy, like the Wrath logo. Not sure if that has been reported already and I am slow or not.

Diablo.com has the image because that website just redirects to the main Blizzard site. Notice the URL in the address bar after you go to www.diablo.com.

Oh, it's definately closed beta for Wrath. Blizzard is right on schedule for it, if you take a look at how BC went down.

all that noise to announce a closed beta noooo I don't believe on this, this is much about to announce the official wotlk release date or something outside wow that is really wanted. All that noise to announce a closed beta isn't possible.

What ice has to do with Diablo 3? Well, I think the image will gradually change throughout the week, and well maybe hell has been frozen over for some time (soon to be 10 years since diablo 2) and well, it's time to bring it out again. So the ice will melt, revealing some kind of diablo-related shizzle.
That's what I hope for anyway, it seems we've got enough WotLK hype as it is... and when has Blizzard ever done something this huge to announce a beta? Or even a CG?
I believe, and hope on a new name, game whatever :) - but we can't know anything for sure. Let's wait and see what happens, aye?

It's either a release date for Wrath, or the beta. But why would they go to all the trouble to announce the beta? Or. Maybe it's both. Who knows.

Like Mera_LaCroisadeEcarlate says, diablo.com has that for a landing page too. So if it was a WotLK thing I'm guessing that Starcraft's website should have it too, right? Well, it doesn't happen on Starcraft's site.
This means either it was an oversight on Blizzard's part to not include it for Starcraft's page, an oversight to include it for Diablo's page, or it means a new Diablo is being announced. I think the latter is the most likely.

Sunday is the anniversary of Diablo 2 and LoD releases. Also the last day of the WWI. Now this? Could be WotLK related, but I can dream, eh?

I don't think it's duplicated on the Diablo.com site... it looks like it just redirects back to Blizzard.com.

Looks like a wall of ice that is being broken through. The center looks to have an impact crack, with smaller cracks spidering out from it. Clever. :)
