Happy Fourth of July from WoW Insider!

Yes, it's time once again for those of us in the United States to celebrate our nation's birthday with fireworks, BBQ, and hopefully a day off. From all of us here at WoW Insider to all of you, happy Fourth of July. And to everyone else outside of America -- get back to work, it's Friday!
As is traditional around Midsummer Fire, the capital cities of Azeroth should have free beer and food available this evening, as well as hourly fireworks displays to watch. If you ask us, the best place to see the festivities is Booty Bay -- nothing like seeing the explosions light up the sky above the Bay, though we've also seen some good displays in Stormwind as well.
No matter what you're up to this holiday, in-game or out, have a terrific and safe Fourth of July.

Even though I'm not American(I'm Canadian(also where was the happy Canada day blog HUH!:P)) i still hope you all a happy 4th of July.

Rossi is the one in Canada, ask him why he didn't post. :) Also, there are no ingame events centered around Canada Day, unfortunately. But happy belated Canada Day anyway, hope it was a good one.

Fireworks displays in Azeroth?
As someone new to the game (December 07) this is another reason why WoW is the best game ever

Ah, that's the reason. I wondered why there is all the booze standing around. Doesn't really make much sense on European Servers.

Off to booty bay tonight then friends too see the fireworks! Am actually looking forward to them becuase I am working seeing as I am in the UK!

Bah.
I can understand celebrating other, more wide-spread holidays in-game. But celebrating July 4th? Silly. The US isn't even the game's largest player-base. Not by a very long shot.
Next year the vendors will be giving out little american flags, perhaps calling them "sparkle-banners".

Blizzard is an American business that has expanded into a worldwide market.
If they were going to plan events based on the criteria you seem to be implying here, we would all be celebrating the Chinese New Year and any number of Korean special occasions. Then you would probably be complaining about how we're observing those instead.

So very clever, this one.
Try this: How about Blizzard draw a line somewhere.
There are major holidays celebrated in North America and Europe. These holidays tend to make it into the game because no matter where you live in those two continents, you know what those holidays are, and people around you celebrate them even if you, on a personal level, do not.
They incorporate those holidays into the game, and give them lore, and stories, and quests, and events that fit the game.
July 4th is celebrated by just one of the many countries spanning two continents, and has no reason to be even remotely connected to WoW, regardless of where it was developed. It just serves as a reminder that the US mentality doesn't even blink an eye at the idea of invading a fantasy world where people go to be away from it all, including other countries' rah rah patriotic holidays.
And any American citizen out there who just can't see what the problem is serves as a perfect example of this mentality.
Nobody would be upset if there were no nod to July 4th in WoW. But there ARE people who would be upset by it.
What's next... little one-day holidays in WoW when Samwise's favorite team wins the Superbowl?
There's no place for this BS.

I really don't see where you're coming from, Blackhorn. The fireworks are for the Midsummer Fire Festival, and the day that the fireworks display is on, is the 4th of July. I'm not seeing red, white & blue banners, or "GO AMERICA" all over Azeroth. Are you seeing this?

Not that it matters, as you've already made up your mind (and thrown out a bit of name-calling, for good measure), but July 4th is also the conclusion of the Midsummer Fire Festival.

Why are people complaining that the 4th is the only Real Life holiday celebrated? The Lunar Festival is based off the Chinese New Year. They even got the cool little red envelopes!
If you really want every countries special day celebrated, petition Blizzard for it and stop whining to other people.

And also, to reply to the comment about celebrating the Chinese New Year, the Lunar Festival is held around the date of the Chinese New Year each year.
