Gem Finder helps you find just the right gems

I can't remember if we've posted about the WoW Gem Finder or not, but the last gem list I posted about has gone missing, so if you've never heard of this one, it's new to you. WoW Gem Finder is a quick web tool that you can to quickly find exactly the gem you're looking for -- just choose the colors, attributes, and/or abilities you want from the checklist on the side, and it'll narrow down exactly the gem you want and where to get it. And all the gems link to Wowhead anyway, so even if the little description isn't enough for you, you can go searching for it elsewhere as well.Pretty great resource for anyone (like me) just starting to pick up epic gear on their latest character and looking into where the gems are coming from. One thing players might still need help with is when to put which gems on which gear (most people wouldn't throw epic gems in gear you get at 61, I'd think, and I personally usually don't bother with anything but vendor gems until I get an actual epic), but that may be all outside the ken of this finder. As a tool to help you find exactly the gem you want, it's a good one.

What ever happened to wowgemfinder.com? The two sites are near identical (someone must have borrowed), but wowgemfinder.com had a more polished UI. Lately it just errors out though. /cry

Matter of opinion. As far as I know you had to check a box like say "blue gem", then wade through the different results. This site is far superior in my opinion as it allows you to combine filters and narrow your options to find gems within mere moments.

There's a similar addon called "gemhelper" that works great - if you aren't a JC, you can use it to figure out what gems you want through specifying color, stats, or even raw gem. If you are a JC, you can use it to replace your in-game crafting UI to make crafting a ton easier. no longer have to scroll through hundreds of patterns to find the one someone wants from you, you can specify the gem you're cutting it from and only have those cuts show up!

I agree, I'd rather use GemHelper mod than go to a website.

The GemHelper mod is great, but doesn't do much good for you if you're stuck at work and looking for ways to plan your characters.
This site is pretty nice and easy to use! Thanks for the tip!

The other site (http://wowgems.jponrails.com/cut_gems/list) IMHO had a much better interface. I also liked how on the old site you could click the small "+/-" to add or remove traits when narrowing gem selection. This new site you have to add a trait then go to the top and filter out what you don't want. Much more tedious. Still a great resource, but a little more wonky than the older site.

the lowest anyone should ever go are crafted green gems. vendor gems scream lolscrub.
