Polymorph: Black Cat, Serpent found in Dalaran

I don't know how new this is but it's news to me, and great news to Mages looking for more Polymorphing fun -- reader Alassiel on Uldaman (thanks!) was poking around Dalaran in the beta, and in the Sisters Sorcerous shop, he found a new Polymorph spell, Black Cat, for... wait for it... 2500g. Yes, it'll cost you more than twice a Gigantique bag, but if you're looking for a new Poly spell and don't want to muck around in the waters of ZG, there you go. And apparently Polymorph: Serpent is also occasionally sold by the same character for the same price.
Both spells seem to be level 60 spells, strangely enough (Update: Because, I learned in the comments, the highest rank of Polymorph is obtained at level 60), so if your 60 Mage has 5000g just sitting around or has a rich alt willing to pay the price, you could be using them then. WoWWiki also says the prices are rep-related, so if you do a little grinding for the Kirin Tor, you might be able to pick them up for cheaper. And don't forget that this is Wrath -- 2500g is likely only a few days of dailies anyway. Polymorph on!

I picked this up about a week ago, and it was not being sold for 2500 gold. I think I paid 250, maybe? I didn't really pay that much attention to the price because I thought it was so cool and immediately added it to my toolbar. I went back to see about getting another one after the mid-week patch (to sell on the AH) and the price was hiked up big time. Probably to discourage people from doing what I was planning and putting it on the AH. Since gold in beta is funny money, I would still buy it for 2500. But on live? No way would I pay that. We won't even discuss the mount that costs 20,000g...

This is pretty neat. I hope Blizzard keeps adding little things like this that allow for my individualization.
Even though I don't play a Mage, the tiny piglet is my favorite polymorph.

Hey, look on the bright side... looks like whilst everyone has epic flying on their alts atleast you have 2 more spells!!11! :D" In all seriousness though... this has to be some sort of joke, Blizzard aren't seriously going to implement these 2 spells for 2500g a piece are they? -.-

And people said my pricing of the turtle tome at 3k was expensive.. pft, its probably worth more now hearing this news and considering the fact its an extremely rare drop from a ZG boss.

try getting one yourself before you say it's not extremely rare. i haven't had luck yet, so it feels extremely rare to me!

15% is especially low in a 20 person raid that can only be done so often, with the other mages rolling against you for it. So I would say it was not simple to obtain.

You don't need 20 people to get the book from ZG. 3-5 level 70s can take down Gahz' ranka these days.

I financed my flying mount by buying a Turtle tome for 1k and selling it for 3k, now my cash-heavy mage wishes I would've kept it and grinded gold for a few more days.

LOL - You can tell Schramm doesn't play a mage. Max-rank polymorph is level 60, they don't have any higher ranks of the base spell either.

No problem Mike. Sorry if that sounded a bit patronizing, hadn't finished my coffee yet. Just wanted to point out why it was a level 60 spell.
Not really fitting for this article, but I'm kind of surprised mages didn't get a level-80 version of poly for Wrath. They upgrade it every 20 levels up through 60, so it would have seemed logical. *shrug*

What would be really neat is if it had a fear debuff in black cat form that lowered/dumped aggro on the caster in case the CC'd guy broke early or he would go into a 3 or 4 second fear. Penguin could add a frost/slow debuff- so could turtle. SOMETHING is better than nothing.
I dunno, get crazy with it, but so far all it is is another version of a spell but doesnt actually do anything of new value. Kinda like the changing of spell names or icons- remember how fun that was?
When I see a mage cast poly and a little pig pops up these days I just ask him if I can haz goldz plsthxbai cause he obviously has too much dough. Course, Im so broke in-game Im trying to make a tabard that says Will Sheep For Food.

well you should stop doing that immediately because the only one who looks like a fool is you...Polymorph:Pig comes from a very easy quest in Azshara and the only gold required to get it is the flight to Azshara.

Actually Poly:pig comes from a pretty easy to do quest in Azshara at level 60. It's Poly:Turtle that comes from ZG.

maybe but there has actually been a good deal of mages calling for something like this. So it isnt as if it is something random jammed in. I think it makes some of the playerbase happy while serving a purpose
