The bosses of the Scourge Invasion

In the chaos of the plague and looming ziggurats, a portion of the overall invasion has been overlooked. Tenris Mirkblood of Karazhan isn't the only limited edition boss during this invasion, and not all of the content is exclusively for top level players. There are unique bosses with unique loot for players of all levels, starting from your early 20s right on to level 70.
Whether you're leveling your first character or you're leveling you umpteenth alt, the Scourge Invasion has something for you to do. You get to do it away from all of the chaos, too. Round up some appropriately leveled friends and fill out a group to tackle these bosses, or find a kind-hearted level 70 looking for something to do, and knock these guys out! Behind the link below you'll find a list of each of the bosses, as well as a quick guide for each one of them.

I am a low-level and I am tired of this zombie nonsense!

I'm level 53, and I hate it. I especially hate how they decided to do it during Hallow's End. I can't even enjoy the freaking holiday now.

I for one welcome our new zombie overlords. ;-)

Nice round-up, hopefully something to calm the "world-event-is-only-aimed-at-70s" perpetual whining.

I was grinding Strat for rep over the weekend, and came upon Balzaphon. I was amazed that, after playing the game since launch, I had never seen this boss before. It all makes so much more sense now.

One week today, i am expecting the start of a new world event!
Krieos Oct 27th 2008 11:41AM
Very cool, I am gonna try to kill them all before they go away for another 2 years. Nice work on the write-ups! =)

Odd. I always remember Sever being there. Maybe I just got lucky when I leveled up my hunter, and did it on the invasion time without thinking about it.
Sorano Oct 27th 2008 11:47AM
Ahah! I remember gasping when I got http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23139#same-model-as back in the day, it was a solid tanking shield pre-raid.
Then I got Buru's skull fragment shortly afterwards and jumped for joy!

i wish they'd make a safezone with loads of barricades and healers so no zombies can get through.
Just to stop the bloody whining. Set up Darnassus as it because its already pretty safe to go. Put loads of little quests in teldrasil, scourge related but various levels so people can still gain xp and have ashenvale as a proper line of defense where lv70's can go and pwn.
Hopefully that would stop the whining. I personally love the event and wish people would realise that its part of an mmorpg. If they dont like it play something static like the other warcraft games.

I don't know. I think less safety rather than more would do a lot to improve things. As it stands, zombie players can abuse the safezone status of shatt, and we all know what those guys giving off green clouds in the AH are up to. I'd rather just have the gloves taken off. Let us kill the infected and set roving level 75-80 elite patrols immune to the plague to patrol Shatt and smash zombies. Argent Healers can kill zombies, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue to add more NPC to patrol for them.
wolfdust Oct 27th 2008 12:15PM
That seems like a good idea but i quite like it when i stroll into sw and it looks like stratholme. Its kinda creepy. if u had a safezone that was covered in healers then it would stop the qq's (maybe) and that in turn would make the game more fun for everyone who doesnt want to hear constant whining.
Imagine a massive battle through the streets of sw and org trying to capture points. like quel'danas when it opened but a lot quicker.
Derec Oct 27th 2008 12:17PM
Or maybe just have small safe zones inside cities, like have a couple argent healers inside the bank, flightmasters, AH, and battlemasters areas. Keeps the zombies out of necessary buildings and services while still leaving the rest as fair game and cuts down on whining.

I think anyone has a right to complain about it. We all pay to play this game, and if we don't like something about it, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with voicing our opinion on it. I'm guessing you're probably level 70, so you probably don't give a crap about lower levels, but this event is turning a lot of them away from the game. All they want to do is quest, but that makes it almost impossible when you have level 70 zombies roaming all around them.
If you don't like the whining, the why don't you leave the freakin game. Get use to it. We all pay. We all have a right to voice our opinion, whether you agree with it or not.
Rich Oct 27th 2008 12:32PM
It's funny you should mention that. I was in Shattrath over the weekend (several times) and as things got more and more out of hand I was thinking "This is awesome, it's like Dawn of the Dead and everyone is trying to find a place to whole up for fear of getting infected.'
Wouldn't it be cool if the center area of the Terrace of Light was shielded to prevent zombies form getting in? You'd have everyone who doesn't want to be infected huddled up in there, scared to port out anywhere in case zombies were hanging out at the other end of the portal.
"Don't go out there, man!!"
turtlehead Oct 27th 2008 1:21PM
Going negative here, and will run long. The "I pay" argument pisses me off. So...
"I think anyone has a right to complain about it. We all pay to play this game, and if we don't like something about it, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with voicing our opinion on it."
You have the right to complain, whether or not your complaints have any merit. You don't have the right to get listened to by Blizzard. They could turn your character into a duck for a month if you want. Your only recourse is to pay or not. Paying doesn't give you any status to put demands on the gameplay experience except for abuses of the terms of use. (You did read them, right?)
Some complaints are more valid than others and that is an important concept. Is a one off event of two weeks--which adds a ton of content for the duration--in four years of gameplay seriously a big problem? At the absolute worst you shelve your tenth level ten toon (I suspect you are a serial alt-er; appologies if I got you wrong) for two weeks. It's also worth realizing that the game is not designed primarily for low level characters these days. That's why the speed leveling to seventy was added. You may dislike this but it is the reality. Choose to continue to pay (play) or not. If you don't have a seventy and have been playing for any length of time (even with limited real life time--I'm with you there) that was *your choice*.
"I'm guessing you're probably level 70, so you probably don't give a crap about lower levels"
I have seventies but also have been leveling a new lowbie from start during the event. No big problems, only the occasional hassle. Added maybe an hour to hitting level ten-twelve and at that point you'll likely be in spots where there are no zombies anyway, or have the option to be so. Sure, may have to skip a little training, but leveling is currently so fast it really doesn't matter. (Horde has it tougher, with Crossroads the hub for so many quests.) To those who complain it's ruining the holiday, I'm truly mystified: it barely impacts the low level content of it.
"but this event is turning a lot of them away from the game."
This is true for players who started the game just as the event hit. I've talked to a few of them about it. They're still learning where they need to go and what to do and sometimes those things simply aren't there. Bad timing all around so I spent last night helping them out.
"All they want to do is quest, but that makes it almost impossible when you have level 70 zombies roaming all around them."
Nonsense. The *vast* majority of quests are both done and turned in in spots which rarely have zombies. Sure, if you're level ten, it'll be a hassle, but even with the delays that'll only take a few hours anyway.
"If you don't like the whining, the why don't you leave the freakin game. Get use to it."
You have the same choice.
"We all pay."
The last refuge of the whiner. Sorry but it's true. Yes, you pay. Yes, Blizzard could make you a duck in a patch and you could choose to no longer pay.
Look, I'm finding the zombies somewhat irritating. It was fun once or twice but beyond that it's an irritation. No big deal though. It's a one time thing that can be largely skipped while continuing to play. Even if I'm not entirely enjoying it (I'm a PvE carebear through and through), it's great to see Blizzard not playing things 150% safe for once. Given the uproar this is probably the last time that'll ever happen in any form.

Took down Scorn last night, at the appropriate level and everything! Plenty for us lowbies to do, not sure why people are threatening to cancel their accounts really.
Got the mail gloves, for reference. Very nice for my paladin. :)
zappo Oct 27th 2008 12:17PM
I think the bigger problem for low level characters is getting killed by high level zombies, and having quest givers killed. Which I agree is quite annoying.
People threaten to cancel their accounts and whine about everything all the time, so this isn't exactly new - it's just more to complain about. If it weren't for the scourge invasion, trade chat would be filled with complaints about ret pallys, or how Blizzard never does anything interesting, or Chuck Norris pwned their mom. It's an inconvenience but really not that big of a deal. Most people who complain about this would just complain about something else if it weren't for the invasion.
Kanuris Oct 27th 2008 12:42PM
The issue for lowbies can be summed up by one i passed in Silverpine Forest while finishing up some quests for by Amassador title (got it last night).
About to hand in a few quests into the Horde camp, Sepulcher, and theres a level 20 Undead Priest stood outside. I think nothing of it and run into the Sepulcher, where two Horde players, now zombies, have infected the entire area.
As a Paladin, it was my duty to kick there butts and purge that place of the Undead, i then yell to the lowbie that it's safe to come in, where he thanks me and tells me he's been waiting 20 minutes for the zombies to go.
Thats why people are whining about this event, it's not just PvP style griefing, it's much worse as it can be done by gits on your own faction.
Amaxe Oct 27th 2008 11:54AM
I've not discovered the quest chains leading to the bosses, and I wonder if perhaps others have not either... that would explain why everyone says the content is for level 70s only.
Of course it doesn't help that the zombies are wrecking everything including the quest givers
