The Undead Plague ends today
We have good news and bad news. The good news is, if you hated dealing with zombies and the plague, it's going away in just a few hours. The bad news is, if you loved dealing with zombies and the plague, it's going away in just a few hours. Tigole confirmed it in a thread on the General forums, and also mentions that this isn't all that they have planned for the pre-Wrath umm... festivities, I guess?He doesn't go into specifics about what will be happening next, but the plague is going away. The special bosses and the necropoli wil be around for awhile yet, a week for the former, a few days for the latter, but the zombies will be no more as of noon PST. Tigole also assures us that this had nothing to do with the whining. This part of the story had simply run its course. We have no idea what's next, but whatever it is, I can't wait to see it.

Good riddance.
It was something that had potential, but I think was poorly executed. The heroic quests seemed thrown in as an afterthought, which was bound to displease those who did not enjoy PvP.
This was ultimately the fatal flaw of it... many of us did not like PvP and found this very similar to the griefing of the PvP servers. It seemed that the event had nothing for us.
A pity.

I think the people complaining are probably the same ones who complain that Blizzard doesn't add enough new content. We get something that lasted all of 6 days, that was completely unique, exciting, and fresh but everyone complains that they can't run "Auctioneer scans". I think this was one of Blizzards best events to date. Better than the server crashing AQ gates, far better than the Dark Portal opening event. A six day taste of danger and worry. I logged in everyday to see if a city was going to fall. I hope it comes back stronger.

What's sad is that there are players who are unable to enjoy the event for what it was. So much of WoW has been abandon by Blizzard and everytime they add another million players some of the things that make Azeroth great seem to be lost.
I'm not advocating ful on RP playing, but geez guys, can some of the idiots that play this game understand there is more to playing WoW than looking for the next epic gear upgrade?
I spent most of my weekend play time on my Draenei shaman begging my fellow shaman brothers to drop their disease cleansing totems and for the people of Azeroth to help them defend their home, that has now become our own. I was mocked and called a noob by all the whiners who were upset that in between naptime with mommy and their rice krispy treat snack break couldn't stand in IF spam useless garbage into trade.

I think a big part of the problem is that the npcs didn't really respond to the plague. It would have been A LOT better if Stormwind was slowly taken over. Surviving NPCs moving closer and closer to the castle and barricades put up over the rest of the city (perhaps an alternative route into the civilized part from the outside).
This would result in a moved Gryphon Master, moved portal locations, more AH and Bankers, and so on. Multiple moves as the city is taken over by undead more and more, and different quests to fight back against the undead as time went on. Now THAT would have been awesome. Of course, some venders and citizens would die and stay dead by the end of the event.
Instead we got this bizarre event that was more annoying than anything else. It was at times immersive, but a lot of times just a hassle and involved waiting for people to respawn. So as immersive as it was, there was a lot of things that broke that immersion.

@Johnson: Amaxe is not complaining it's a true commentary. I personally thought it was a great event and pretty unique at the same time I didn't like it. At the same time I don't want to fear going in to a city just because I might get turned in to a ghoul. Was leaving ssc last night I even said, I fear going back to shatt more then going to try killing vashj again.

I find it sad that so many people found this an inconvenience as opposed to a really unique opportunity. Sure it disrupted your game-play time....and for the record, uh, it was supposed to. It was supposed to break your schedule, force you to make changes. This is changing world, and changes will happen. They set out to make a memorable event, and in fact they did create a memorable event, and within the confines of the game paradigm - a very realistic event. Cities were basically no-mans land except for those there drastically cut off from the rest of the world (Silvermoon City, for example). The heroics are not just "tacked on at the last minute" as it was stated before, but rather (and rather obvious to me) part of an over-arching story line for which this is naught but the first page.

Just curious - do you ever say anything positive? All I've ever seen from you are negative posts about how people are doing everything wrong ... I kinda hope that Blizzard extends the event on your server so you can better contemplate the concept that the "Universe does not revolve around me and my wants and not everything that causes a perceived (key word here) inconvenience for me poorly executed and sloppily created."

I think you're an idiot, the idea of the event was to grief. The event is part of the storyline - it builds a hatred towards the scourge and the Lich King and shows his power and the potential threat he imposes.
It's RP elitists like you that coupled with the immature rodents of WoW that ruin the atmosphere of the game and give it a bad name. Just play what comes and enjoy it and stop trying to sculpt the game to what you want. If all else fails, stop playing the game for the duration of the event! It's not like it is required. God...

No worries, friend. Your safe, completely static, boring world where nothing ever changes will soon be back. No longer will you need to actually to interact with people you play with.
Now, the game became unplayable for me in the last days. I tried to find a new game, but sadly, all games required be to actually interact with other people playing games! Darn!
Taking "social" out of "social game" since 1998, when people found out that idling in games is probably the best thing about them, ever. Then they got fragged.

Yes, to each and everyone out there who have interrupted other player's games without doing so with full consent from the other players - DIAF.
This event would have been excellent if it hadn't been so intrusive.

PeeWee, harassment and griefing has always been a part of any game. Even back in Arcades, when you played your favorite arcade, someone would come over your machine and slap you for sucking so bad.
Every single day people get spawn-camped in FPSes, rushed in RTSes, gang-ganked in MMOs. Just as soon we put "WAR" back in World of WARcraft, everyone grabs their sword, but in this game, not to fight, but to make other people listen to their whines.
It's all part of the game. I do believe that finally Blizzard understood how to make fun MMO where it isn't about grind and I hope WotLK meets my expectations.
Expectations about...braaaiiiinnnnsssssss....

I dont care what Im doing- someone comes over and slaps me for doing anything poorly in their estimation and I'm going home with their ear in my pocket.
As far as this zombie nonsense is concerned all it did was give the griefers some ability to ruin the play for those of us that dont get too excited about PVP. I joined a PVE server because I like to play the game casually and get involved in the lore of the story, not to PVP. Thats why theres PVE servers. They're for people who like to play against the environment and not the other players- hence the term P. V. E. The "E" stands for "Environment". As in not other players. You know, the 12 year-old kid that is spamming you in trade because he cant find any other, more efficient way to make your life miserable because his parents dont acknowledge him. THAT guy is why I dont PVP. Because I dont have 16 hours a day to make my character indestructible enough to be able to wander around without the mind-numbing annoyance of said loser-douchebag living for days on end where my corpse is just to make sure I share in the pain he carries around from his sad, pathetic and tortured existence.
Answer that question for ya? Moreso, though, why do I have to play MY game to your standards? I dont demand that you play PVE so, in short, shaddup.

Personally, I enjoyed this event. The idea of being outnumbered by the enemy made each battle seem like an epic event. The few remaining living citizens making our stand, defending out hometowns against overwhelming odds.

Heey, heey, gridwerk, lets not get all defensive about such things as this. I have yet to see your ear collection so I have all rights to be in the position to call you internet tough guy.
I also do believe that that you pretty much DID get involved in the story as soon as the 12 year old killed you all over again. I get your point and why you don't PvP and as I understand it, you're 70. So wheres the problem? Surely you wont try to convince me that you had absolutely no chance to not get involved in PvP here. Just as you chosen to escape PvP via rollin' on PvE server, you might aswell choose to spent a few days somewhere else. I was idling in UC all day today and didn't see a single zombie. I seriously don't see a problem spending next few days in Silvermoon/Darnassus. God, I don't see a problem not playing WoW for a few days if it gets so on peoples nerves.
I do most certainly not demand that you PvP, there is just too much ways to escape it, even with zombies, for me to demand it. Just for the record here, this is not your game and as you may already noticed, life is very often not based around one individual. Blizzard makes game as they want it, you choose to accept it or deny it, therefore not playing it. Or, on the other hand, playing it.
Played some TF2 yesterday and as I was about to leave my spawn, got blown up by Demoman. I was very frustrated I didn't get informed about his plans and that noone asked my opinion on whenever I would want to get blown up, or not. Frustrating!
Moreso (thats a funny word right there, thanks for remind me of its existence!), why do you play MMOs if you don't want to meet up with 12-year olds? Come on, they're the essence of any multiplayer game. Take my advice, you shouldn't isolate yourself out of various kind of people in multiplayer, especially MMO, games. You'll have at least twice the fun you have at the moment when you're idling at IF/OG just waiting to get killed by a zombie.
