More information about the Wrath of the Lich King midnight launch

Blizzplanet's got the deets on a Future Shop midnight launch going on in Canada (eh?), so plans of Wrath midnight launch events are starting to sneak out into the world. Blizzard will be doing their usual schtick in Los Angeles, and this time also in New York, San Franscisco, and Austin, where developers go out to stores to sign and say hi while people buy their game. Our good friends BRK and Mania are hosting an event in Orlando, Florida, and I'll be picking up my game at the Gamestop just south of Clark and Diversey in Chicago (and I'll probably invite you all out for a drink or two beforehand at a bar around here, if you're interested). We're also planning some more events around the country here at WoW Insider -- stay tuned for more information about when and where things are going down.

And if you've got information about a special midnight launch event going on around the country (or if, hint hint, you happen to work for a retailer and want to give us an inside scoop on what they've got planned, anonymity assured), please do drop a note on our tip line. The Burning Crusade launch was the biggest expansion launch of all time ever, and Wrath, with its return to Warcraft III lore and the increase in Blizzard's playerbase, is shaping up to be even bigger.

My local EB Games in Georgetown, Ontario (near Toronto) is doing a midnight launch for pre-order customers. Got the confirmation from the store clerk on Tuesday when I picked up Fallout 3.

The clerks in the EB Games in Cloverdale Mall in Etobicoke, ON also told me that they were planning a special midnight release

Our local retailer, all the way down here in Tasmania, said they would have a midnight launch, like 17 hours behind the North American Time zones. My mates and I are like "I'd rather get the game during normal hours and let the lag, bugs, and other issues get semi resolved before we all install and start playing." So even though a few of us ordered WotLK CEs, we are going to wait till about 10 AM before we bother to go get them.

AW! I wish I would have known this was going on. I preordered at the one close to me, I live in the South Loop. But I would have went up there if I had known there would be a WoWinsider meetup.

I'll be at murphy's too. I was talking to a couple guys from GS and they said that they will have a metal band there performing. And you can expect the norm food and redbull, just like all the other big midnight release games.

That was totally my gamestop before I moved out of the city. I will be hitting up a Meijer or Wal-Mart at midnight in Elgin most likely.
