our Ustream show from last night, featuring a very tired me installing and stepping into Northrend for the very first time. Yes, it's silly, and yes, it's a little wacky without seeing the chat (though I tried to say everything I was asked while we did it), but if you want to see what it's like to set up and run the game, there you go. The second part of the video is after the break -- sorry I didn't stay up to play longer, but you can at least get a good look at the starting Alliance towns in Northrend, and if you stay all the way to the end, I do find the object everyone will be racing for eventually.
And our good friends at Massively have documented the event in their own way -- they got their hands on a Collector's Edition, and they've
got an unboxing gallery up that you can flip through below. Sure, sure, laugh if you want, but not everyone out there has the expansion yet, and it's our pleasure to try to bring you the experience as vicariously as possible. Enjoy.

I'm unpacking my CE now and installing.
I got a question for someone. When TBC was released, there was that special tabard at the portal that you could only get for a short time.
I know about the invasion items, like the pally trinket and the second chance at the Tabard of the Argent Whatever, but is there anything else I need to get before it goes away forever?

I got lucky. I didn't have CE preordered but due to some luck meeting a guy in line who was on the first page on the list I ended getting one! He gave me his copy. The opening of the box was nearly a religigous experience.
The art book is incredible and the Soundtrack (which I have at work with me) is awesome. Listened to it 3 times now.
I also thought the mouse pad and the loot card were a nice touch.
Thing I am wondering is how does the minipet work?

I wondered too, i was freaking out thinking they didnt put the loot card in my box lol.
The authentication key is set up so the game knows you upgraded to a CE of Wotlk. Check your mail on ALL your characters, on any realm. Theres your Frosty :)

Out of curiosity, weren't we supposed to be switching over to Blizzard accounts for login? I didn't see any prompt to do so during the process of entering my key, though I did already have a Blizz account so I'm not sure if I was already upgraded or not.

Its really wierd i got the collecters edition and i poped in the dvd while waiting for it to install and everything i checked in the behind the game feature goes in fast foward. I thought i hit foward on acident but no i hit play and its still going the same speed and no sound
