Breakfast Topic: What's your first level 80 goal?
For some people, the game changes a lot at level 80. A whole lot of new opportunities open up. New reputations to work on, new instances to check out, new raids to explore and beat, items to chase that you know you won't replace in a day or two. For others, it doesn't really change anything. You pick up your new level 80 spells and abilities and you go right back where you left off, questing in some zone.Personally, I'm more like that first type. I quest hard until top level, then take a break from it while I work on other things. I quested through Storm Peaks in the Wrath beta, but I haven't done it on live yet. I hit level 80 in Icecrown and haven't done much questing since then, I've mostly been running raids and heroics, finally replacing my level 70 gear. My first goal, though? I wanted the Reins of the Red Drake.
Since long before even The Burning Crusade introduced flying mounts, I wanted a red dragon mount. I don't really know why I wanted it, but I did. When I saw that you could get the drake in Wrath of the Lich King, I had to have it. Yesterday, I hit Exalted with Wyrmrest Accord and spent a good hour flying around Northrend on my new mount. Argent Crusade is probably the next rep I'll work on for the Argent Champion title.
What about you guys, what's the first thing you worked on at level 80? If you're not 80 yet, what do you plan on doing first? Are you after something specific, or are you just going to keep on truckin' with your questing? Any achievements you have your eyes on?

I'll probably hit the lv 80 instances first.
Then maybe work on useful reputations.

Loremaster of Northrend, I am loving all the lore. Also I'd like to get my all my profressions up to 450.

I'll keep on questing because that's what I enjoy in the game. Only when I'm at 80 I'll start getting the extra money from the quests instead of experience so I'll try and accumulate enough money to finally get my fast flying mount and related training. After that I'll continue questing, keeping in mind the zone quest achievements as well as the various reputations I want to work on seeing as they and crafting are the only places I can get my hands on epic items.

I'm questing. My goal is to finish all possible quests in Northrend and I'm having a lot of fun doing it. Beside that I'm doing instances and I will continue doing them. And as my current character is a pretty new one I have to buy flying skill for 5k, so I guess this will be my priority after hitting 80.. to collect 5k gold.

My first goal?
To farm 5000g for Artisan Riding Skill (I missed out on it in TBC)
Gormaggus Nov 29th 2008 10:26AM
Yep, same here, just bought cold weather flying at 77 (about 3/4 through) and now I'm sitting at a measly 300g/5000 :P.

Yep, that's me, got my new DK as my main, but I didn't get Srtisan on my old main either ^^.

Ditto. The closest I ever got in TBC was 2k/5k. Hopefully the gold will be easier to come by at 80.

I think I'll finish up my quests in Storm Peaks and Icecrown, then do a bit of Wintergrasp and SotA. They're both looking pretty sweet at the moment.

Going fore loremaster in Northrend first, I love all of the zones here and the lore is just awesome. I just finished Stormpeaks yesterday, so now I only need Howling Fjord. After that I will probably do some heroics and stuff while casually going trough the Azeroth zones for the loremaster title.

Questing until I can quest no more. I guess I'm sort of a completionist, but I also figure the extra gold will do me well.
But if I haven't gotten it by then, I'll finish up getting the Salty title. That damned Old Ironjaw just won't bite!
DigitalMonitor Nov 29th 2008 9:11AM
@Cy
Just so know, Crafty and Old Ironjaw are not required for the Salty title:

@DigitalMonitor: Okay, I could have sworn that it was on the list at some point. But now I feel dumb. LOL Anyway thanks for the heads-up!

as a tank... my goal was to get to 540 for Heroics and Naxx :)

I really want a flying carpet. But I have to say that I am finding levelling tailoring to be painfully slow. In BC I felt like I was getting netherweave everywhere, and it was enough to keep my tailoring caught up with me. Here I am now at 75 and my tailoring is only at 393. I thought that Northrend cloth scavenging would help (gotta love when you get 7 pieces of cloth off of on mob) but it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference. So hopefully a ton of cloth manages to come my way by the time I hit 77.

As a leatherworker I'm lvl 76 with my LWing sitting at 420 right now, with the next batch of leather going to purchasing my new patternss, and I have to say that I've only achieved this level of LW level by actively farming large quantities of rhinos in Borean Tundra (I'm pretty sure I'm a new DEHTA quest mob to kill). I've killed hundreds of rhinos to skin them for my leather. My suggestion would be to find a place with mobs that drop pretty consistent amounts of cloth on their own (I found some of the undead in Zul'drak outside the Argent base with the parachutes is good) then AOE farm the hell out of them as best you can. You won't hit high levels of your profession skills by farming as you level through quests, I don't think.

First up: Pengu minipet from Walrus tribe. Next, the red dragon from Wyrmest (looks great!). Someday, red uber drake from heroics (looks insane).
