Breakfast Topic: Most embarrassing thing you've ever done in WoW?

After the clamor the other day, the WoW Insider virtual offices broke into quite a bit of punnery. You wouldn't believe the clam-itous amount of punishment we underwent. It was a clam-ity. Of course, this sparked off a discussion on what is funniest in WoW, which turned into the most embarrassing thing that was ever done, which we thought sounded like a good breakfast topic. For me, amusingly enough, my most embarrassing moment actually had to do with a clam. We were in UBRS (back when UBRS was still hard and let you run 15-man groups) and one of our warriors got bugged while looting. While it's fun to watch someone scoot around in the looting position, it's not too good when it's your main tank. At the time the only real way to get out of the glitch was to carry a clam with you, open it and close it without looting. Being the only female in the raid - and not even thinking about it first - I cheerfully offered to give our main tank the clam I carried with me since he was grumping about being stuck.
As you can imagine, you could hear a pin drop on vent as 14 guys pondered this statement.
If I could have crawled under Azeroth to hide right about then, I would have, as it dawned on me that I'd not qualified that statement enough. I sputtered out about how opening a clam without looting it and then closing the window fixed loot scoot and... yeah. The damage was done. The entire raid broke into hysterical laughter at my obviously flaming embarrassment. I was mercilessly teased for months about it, and as you can imagine, word spread so that it wasn't just my raid group who got to poke fun at me.
To this day I don't talk about clams in /guild.

I was master looter for my guild back in Vanilla and we were running ZG. We killed the bat woman (my mates had a lot of fun in those days trying to kill the trash bats before they blew up) and she dropped the 2h paladin mace. The paladins had their little bid war, I went to give it to the winner and lo and behold I handed it to the rogue by mistake.
I've never gotten over that...
A warrior friend of mine was our main tank at the time and we were clearing the pyramid to the panther aspect. At the top of the stairs to enter there's a group of about 5 panthers on either side, which can be a nuisance on their own as AoE tanking wasn't in its best form. So we used to clear one side then pull the 4 man humanoid group inside the pyramid to the outer platform so we had more room to avoid their abilities. We cleared the right, our tank said "ok pulling to the right" then promptly pulled the humanoid group and ran headlong into the panthers on the left by mistake.
We survived barely, but we still tease him about it when he's using left and right in any tactics.

I was tanking Heroic VH on my death knight while watching my 3 year old and on the phone. Mark of the war prisoner dropped, I saw the +hit, but never saw the spell power on use.
I needed and won.

It took about 4 days with an escalated ticket to get the trinket transfer to its proper owner.

Really the most embarrassing thing for me is the stuff that I continue to screw up over and over. Its minor sure, but when you are asked for a port and you end up teleporting ONLY yourself it makes ya feel kinda moronic.
I can remember 5 seperate times it's happened, 3 of which were with the same guildy -_-

LOL I am known for doing this. On my mage my guildies flat out have made sure their hearths were available so that if I screwed up, they could still get somewhere.

I have counteracted this unfortunate tendency myself by Creating a macro that announces in /s that I'm making a port. If I don't see the message I can quickly cancel and hit the correct button in time.

Very similar for my most embarassing moment however it was when I was completing the "For the Alliance achievement" Down the Horde leader in Thunder bluff then instead of portal to shat I hit teleport Shat. It would not have been to bad until the only other mage in the raid group did the same thing.

I had quit playing WoW for several months shortly after BC was released... and then I came back. Except when I decided to come back I found out that my account had been stolen. I was able to quickly retrieve it and get logged back in.
A few minutes after logging in that day there was a Kara run with a bunch of my guild's alts and one or two outsiders. They asked me to come along to help out... so I accepted the invitation. One of my class tokens dropped off of one of the bosses. Now, prior to me quitting I had never run Kara before, I was pretty much just a PVP junkie. So I rolled on it against one other guy and won.
About 5 seconds after I was given the token one of the healers says in /raid: You dumbass, you are already those gloves. Why did you roll need?
Sure enough, I open my character panel and I had on the Voideheart Gloves. I guess whoever had taken my account hadn't used it to just farm gold. They were actually playing it and gearing up the character. I felt like such a retard. I immediately apologized to the mage I had rolled against.
I also found out that the account thief had leveled enchanting and tailoring (later, I found the whole FSW set in my bank, among other crafted items) on this warlock. In the end I was able to DE the gloves after turning in the token and mail the shard to the mage... but I still felt pretty stupid.

Not too long after the armory came out another rogue friend and I got into a discussion about basic stats between classes and races. We stripped naked - removing gear, trinkets, rings, weapons, every single item - and had a few fistfight duels as part of that discussion. After the last duel I logged off without thinking too much of it.
One of my guildmates posted a screenshot of my armory page on the guild forums, all nicely updated to show my (female) rogue without one stitch on, right next to a screenshot of the guild roster in the game showing my last location as Elwynn. *facepalm*
The character was unplayable for a couple weeks. Every time I logged on I'd get whispers inviting me out to Goldshire.

I levelled up my warlock from 0-60 without ever grouping with anyone, without being in a guild or without ever doing any dungeons or raids.
Then I got heavily involved in PVP and one day whilst in AV I was asked to summon lots of hordes into the allies base.
The only problem was I didnt know how to.....I'd never summoned anyone before-you can imagine the raid chat when I asked how I did this..

A couple weeks ago I rolled on a piece of cloth chest-piece from the 4 horsemen in Naxx, saying it was better than my current... Which it was, had it been pants. I ended up getting the epic dress and later confessed in vent that I thought the item was pants. Now, every raid, either my guild or others, I am asked if something looks like pants.

The joke is that clams vaguely resemble female genitalia in appearance.
For people who buy into the concept of aphrodesiacs, clams are one because of this (you'll find that most so-called aphrodesiacs resemble genitalia in some way).
As for the article...

In some areas a "clam" is a slang term for a vagina.
Although it's an old slang term, I'm surprised the poster knew 14 people who recognized it.
