No account-wide DKs just yet (for some)

As of the shortly before Wrath launch time, the plan for Death Knight character creation was as follows:
- If you have a level 55 or greater character on any realm,
- You can create one DK per realm on any realm you like.
- You can't, of course, create DKs of the opposite faction on a PvP server on which you already have characters.
Since the expansion launched, though, due to technical limitations, it has only been possible to create a DK on servers on which you have a 55+.
3.0.8 was supposed to ease this restriction, returning to the original design of DK unlocking being acount-wide rather than server-wide. However, "due to unforeseen circumstances," this change was not fully executed. Some people are able to create DKs on any realm as intended (myself included), but some are not. Neth promises that we will see the change come to all "in the near future," hopefully after some rolling restarts tonight. And here's hoping those same rolling restarts solve the Wintergrasp crashing bug that's annoying us all so intensely.

Blue said some people are still able to for the moment but that will be fixed and no one will until a further time. After reading that I was luckily able to make my Death Knight. Hopefully it will not be deleted, been waiting awhile so I can play with friends on another server.

mine didn't work until i logged into my lvl 70 character on my main realm first. Logged out of the 70, switched to the server I wanted to start the DK on, and it worked at that time.
First time around did nothing. Same errors as everyone else.

This is true, some people can still do it. I being one of them, I can create a Death Knight on most servers I do not have a level 55 on.

Niko has the right of it. I wouldn't be surprised if a good number of the people complaining actually hadn't logged into their level 55+ with the new patch yet.

I guess I'm a lucky one. I got to make an ally one on another server! Guess I can now experience northrend from the other faction's persepective! And outlands, for that matter. And the ally cities.... and every other alliance thing I can't do as horde.

It may or may not work... I have a 55 hunter and a 58 DK on Ysera, tried to create a Troll DK on Grizzly Hill, didn't work, but tried creating a NElf DK on Ravencrest, it worked!

Grizzly Hill is a new server, they've said from day one that you won't ever be able to make DKs without a 55 on servers that aren't open to transfers yet.

I got into a raid tonight and was trying to create a summoning portal. All i did was summon the player and then trigger a 2 minute cooldown.

It has worked for me for every server I have tried (Arygos, Anvilmar and Sen'jin), except for the one that I was really looking forward to (Galakrond).
I have a friend that recently started playing WoW, and he has other friends that play on Galakrond, so he won't play on my server (Hellscream). I was looking forward to 3.0.8 so that I could make a Death Knight on Galakrond. Because I can't, though, I guess that's more motivation for me to convert him over to Hellscream. >:-)

Galakrond is less than 3 months old, as such you can't transfer to it, as such you can't make a DK there without having a 55+ toon already. Wish they had some flag in the server selection list for ones that were too young for transfers and DKs, would be less confusing for people.

So I'm guessing the limit of 1 DK a realm still remains though? Even if they're both the same faction (H/A).

It seams if u want this to work u need only log into a character thats over 55 on any server then u can make ur deathknight on any other server

I fixed this bug by logging onto my 80. It then realized that I had an 80.

Do you people even read the post you're commenting on? Eliah specifically said it works for some and not for others. I'm talking to you Mike, Buttah.
Also seeing a lot of bugs from the patch already. New warlock summoning stone doesn't work. Howling Blast doesn't show a cooldown but is now on a 5 second cooldown. And of course servers kicking everyone in northrend every time a mouse squeaks in wintergrasp.
