"Full-time guild director" being hired on Craigslist

It's a tough economy out there, and everyone's looking for a stable job that won't drive them nuts. Enter this kind fellow from Santa Barbara, California -- he's offering "fulltime" pay to someone willing to become a PvP guild director. Duties include picking up skilled new recruits, delivering summaries of what's been going on in the guild, and keeping tabs on raid stats, guild banking, auctions, and so on. He's got a three-box setup you can use when he's not on it (hence, the money to burn), and while pay isn't much at first, he does have plans in mind for a bonus schedule (if the guild gets three people in the top Arena rankings, you get a frozen turkey?).Pretty wild, but as long as someone is willing to pay for something (and I know a lot of guild leaders who'd love to outsource their "jobs" if they had the cash), you can turn it into a real job. And who knows -- putting "WoW Guild Director" on your resume might be really helpful. If you do get hired, be sure to let us know.

Update: Apparently Craigslist has flagged the ad for removal. Which is too bad -- despite the fact that we're posting this today, it was originally posted a few days ago. We think it's real.

Efem, I actually agree with you on this. The dilligence on listing sources is definitely lacking most recently. Yesterday's "Chromie is a guy" article was likely lifted either from a WoW forum thread and/or Wowwiki without referencing either.

I can understand why a hardcore raiding guild might need/pay for a full time GM...but...a pvp guild?
Me and my friend have tried starting a pvp guild before...it's not easy. Grinding BGs and working out arena strats is something that can be done alone or by a small group people, a whole guild is not really needed for that sort of thing imo.
The purple glue that keeps a normal pve guild together is the promise of phat lootz that u just can't get by any other means than teaming up with 24 other people you barely know (enter the guy who personally knows every single person in his guild).

Agree with you wholeheartedly Lemons. A PVP guild should not be needed for PVP. Think about why they might want this GM. They are PVP idiots. Someone group decided they wanted to be good at PVP and has no idea how to be good and don't want to put any work into it. Thus they offer to pay for someone to do everything for them. If they can get someone to get them proper gear - they will be good right?
Yes that was sarcasm, but they may believe that.

This is fake. FYI a large number of Craigslist ads are fake. As are many monster.com and similar search sites. If the ad is from a recruiter, esp. in the IT business, its likely fake. This is done so the recruiter can get resumes which they can then send to companies looking to fill positions. It does not mean there is a position open then, it means that there may be some day theoretically a position like that opened somewhere in the US.
Anyway, TL;DR, stay away from recruiters esp on those job sites mentioned.
