3.1 hitting this week? Wryxian drops some hints

EU Blue Wryxian is once again patrolling the forums, dropping hints that patch 3.1 "is coming ... soo ... er ... promptly."Through crystal-ball gazing, the application of logic and, in some cases, sheer desperation, the general consensus has been that the Secrets of Ulduar patch will be dropping this week.
Europe's favourite Blue appeared on the forums this morning and left a carefully worded comment:
"The patch is definitely coming ... shortly.
"The 'severe lack of info' might simply be because we announced it, gave further details about it, put it up on the PTR for testing and now we are basically on the verge of releasing it.
"We certainly haven't been quiet about it. It is coming. And it is coming ... soo ... er ... promptly."
Regardless, we should know one way or another in less than twenty four hours. So cross your fingers (and toes) for some extended downtime tomorrow!

FFS, people! Did the PTR close yet? Maybe I just missed that headline.

Look for the patch to hit about a week after the PTR closes (unless blizz changed how they do it and I see no reason why they would).

I've seen the PTR close during the extended maintenance before, and more frequently just a few hours before, so that's not exactly the indicator you seen to think it is.

P.S. I forgot to mention that there have been instances of patches hitting before the PTR closes, but those are few and far between. There was a new build 4 days ago anyway. If I were a betting man, I'd put several thousand gold against the Patch hitting tomorrow.

And I'd say that the chances are just about equal that it will be released this week or that it will be released next week, which is the latest it might come out.
While a new build came out a few days ago, the changes included in it were EXTREMELY minor and there were only a sparse handful at that. Basically, testing is done.
If the patch is released this week, there's a buffer between the yearly event madness and the new patch madness, and even allows for unforeseen problems with the patch (we've seen patches in the past shut down servers because the volume of players was interacting negatively with the new changes, something that couldn't be tested for) without interrupting the new arena season or the event they're trying to update. It makes sense to me that Blizzard would try to give themselves that kind of buffer, and as a player I would appreciate the extra week to get used to the new changes before two weeks of craziness with the yearly events.
On the other hand, the PTR IS still up, which is an indication that the patch might not be released tomorrow. It's not a perfect indicator, and doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it IS enough for me to doubt that the patch is coming out this week. I don't think it's in Blizzard's best interest or most of the player's best interests (although I'm sure those people who are desperately trying to get that last achievement for a title and mount would disagree), but the release date could well be next week because of technical concerns or some other unknown variable.
If it doesn't drop this week, I can't imagine it will come out any later than next week. Too much of what's in this patch has dates attached to it, and, short of a catastrophic need to fix things, Blizzard won't want to delay them.

Heh...I'm hoping for the patch tomorrow as I'll be off of work the later half of next week and I'd love for most the inevitable server and patch issues to ironed out by then. :)

Are we going to get a Ulduar trailer similar to the patch trailers released in the past? I know we got that walk-through, but damn those trailers are fun!

There's only been the musically inclined rather amateur-looking video released - marked as a trailer - and at this late stage I'd think we're out of luck which is a shame, especially given the lore.

If I'm not mistaken... that video is marked as a "video teaser"... I still have some hope for a trailer... and yes this content patch screams for a least one possibly two (Argent Tournament) lore trailers.

I too hope there is a lore trailer like "The Black temple", "The Gods of Zul'Aman" and "The Fury of the Sunwell".
It'd be great if the one narrating (sp?) the trailer was the humanoid form of Yogg-saron :o
