BlizzCon ticket FAQ

For those of you worried about the return of Failoc, or just interested in how the BlizzCon ticket process is going to work this time around, Blizzard has posted a FAQ on buying tickets on their BlizzCon site.
Interesting information includes:
- You should make a Battle.net account ahead of time, and make sure the payment information on it is up-to-date.
- If there are enough people on the site trying to buy tickets (and trust me, there will be), there will be a queue to join.
- Once in the queue, you'll get an ETA for how long until you can get your tickets. Do not close or refresh the window. If tickets sell out before you get to the front of the line, they'll let you know.
- When you get to the front of the queue, you have 15 minutes to buy your tickets before you get booted and have to join the queue again.
- You don't need to give attendee information until after finishing the ticket purchase.
They also note that this queue system will remain in place for future Blizzard items "whenever a certain number of people are making purchases simultaneously," so get used to it - you'll almost certainly be seeing it when StarCraft II and Diablo III come out.

well it does sound good...
I just wonder how long the que will be for Starcraft II. This will have to be an ironed out que for it to stay up and hold the masses like it will be expected to...

Meh. As a 3-time attendee, I understand that this is much "fairer" than just about any other way, but the prospect of a line doesnt do much for me, especially on a saturday. Line's are so impartial. They dont care how much you want to go :(
At least before i had a random chance to get in and a work day start time to thin the crowd a little for all the slobs that cant be in front of a computer with unfiltered interent at 8am PST.
I'd almost prefer random lottery. Then i could pretend like my luck would count for something. The odds of me being the first 15k out of millions to hit the button and get in line seem slim to none.
Hopefully, they wont let people "pre-queue" on the 15th by logging in and staying active all day or something.

You have to physically be there to pick up your bag, so no.

If it's similar to previous years, no. You must be present to pick up your bag, they will not be mailed.
This is expressly to curb exactly what you're describing; People who want the goodie bag, but don't want to attend wasting the tickets that could go to people who do wish to attend.

I sure wish they would announce or post the times (not just the days) that tickets will become available for sale. That was a major part of the problem last year when people started spamming the servers at midnight because Blizzard didn't say what "Time" the tickets would be on sale. A little professionalism goes a long way in the retail world :) Everything else they have done looks great and I hope to be able to go again this year.

After attending the 2008 Blizcon, I won't attend another Bliz live event. Don't get me wrong, I love their game, but its obvious they have no clue how to put live events on. The event hall had lots of nothing in it, A very small vendor area with aisles that were too small for the number of people attending. and the Official Blizzard souvenir sales area was so poorly run (6 hour Lines!). I'm not that desperate for a in-game reward to shell out $125. It's just not worth it to me.

The Panels were cool as was the hands on demo of D3 (amazing!). Also, seeing the costumes in person is pretty awesome. And Video games Live is almost worth the price of admission alone, even sitting mid-hall. I'm hoping for a lot more wrath music this time around. Some of the stuff on the soundtrack is amazing.

Is one person in line able to buy multiple tickets?
I can see there being a lot of problems for people wanting to go as a group. There's no way to guarantee they get their tickets. After the few days, they might realize that only half the group got tickets. Then, they have to go back through the queue to cancel their tickets.
