WoW and Battle.net merge now available in Europe

The process takes about a minute and, after a cool sound effect, you'll see Wrath of the Lich King appear in your games section. The only thing you need to remember is you will need to put in the email address associated with your Battle.net account in the WoW login screen rather than your user name. So, without further ado, go forth and merge!

So, what's the actual benefit from merging it, aside from the fact that I now have to remember one of my... seven email addresses?

But now you don't need to remember your WoW login details, as your Battle.net details will be enough for WoW and all future Battle.net games (most likely).
I like the way the Battle.net works now, and I'm sure it will be even nicer with SC2 and D3 on the horizon, but I'm not sure about doing this just yet - I'v heard there has been a lot of trouble with it in the US (or is that a thing of the past now?).
Good to see some nice EU news on WoW.com anyway!

The principle benefit is that after nearly every patch day, and at some random times, your login will cease to work, your character loads will be non-existent, and sometimes you just won't be able to play for any reason at all.
(Annoyed Battle.net convert since March 2009)

Yep. So now Europeans get to drink the Flavor-Aid too! jk. Actually, I merged, and it hasn't really caused me any issues. /knock-wood. But I may be lucky too. Then again, I don't really play in the mornings after patches/restarts when most of these things seem to come up. All I can confirm is reading a fair amount of QQ.

Oh yeah, if you guys want extra 20% down time, go for it. The US merge was a failure. SO bad they had to give the option to unmerge, which people took up so readily they had to retract it.

If by "frolic" you mean sitting around waiting for Blizzard to fix authentication issues that just impact those of us who did the stupid Battle.net conversion while the rest of the people actually play the game, then yes.
We've been frolicking our asses off.

I don't have any other MMO's that blizz have made.... I'm guessing this is a 'future' thing but until it becomes 'mandatory' I don't see the point of changing over. It's a flat 5th wheel right now.

I got it immediately for all my accounts, its easy and fast transfers, and one entry point for all my wow stuff. And it worked really nice.

Ohh and btw, you wont need your secret question anymore for account-to-account transfers within the same battle.net account! Another nice to have.
And I dont have any login issues here, everything works perfect.

just a question if i put 2 acounts on 1 battle net acount can i still login on both of them @ the same time ? that wen i try to login a second time it wont kick the other 1 off ?

Isnt there something about multiple wowaccounts in one battlenet account?
thought that was major thing. You login with bnetaccount and then select one of asccociated accounts...
if not... my bad :P

I'm sorry, but is Lesley Smith on the payroll of Blizzard, or just getting bribed to promote this so far defunct system? Has wow.com forgotten the numerous articles related to battle.net account issues, and problems logging in? There currently is no advantage to the merge. Downloading the client is still available at the official warcraft site, no battle.net account required.... No vanity pets are being offered. No incentive. Until it is mandatory, you're better off waiting for Blizzard to work out all the kinks from the system. Take it from someone who DID merge and has regretted ever since.

I was wondering the exact same thing, mttbak3.
I was one click away from merging the day it was ready before I realized, I didn't want to have my e-mail address for the login. Having a separate username is just one more level of obscurity between someone else being able to access my account. Almost anyone that knows me also knows my e-mail address, but only a couple of people know my username.
