Mountain Dew Battle Bots now live

Mountain Dew Game Fuel, WoW-themed flavors of the popular beverage in red and blue (for the Horde and Alliance, respectively), is out in the wild, and at least one of our writers is already a big fan. To show how much they love you (or rather, to try to get you to buy their soda), Mountain Dew will give you a free in-game Battle Bot pet, just for clicking a button on their web site! The button is towards the lower-right, and it'll redirect you to log in to your Battle.net account. Don't worry, it's safe - you can tell by the Battle.net URL. He's a cute little guy. You can see a few screenshots I took in the gallery below.
Apparently you get in-game fuel for your pet, again in red or blue, and when you fuel them up, they will fight opposite colors. If you give your pet blue fuel and the guy next to you gives it red, expect some robot-on-robot fighting action. I'm not sure if you have to get the appropriate fuel for your faction, since it seems you can only get one in-game item per day, and I already got my battle bot. I'll try it tomorrow and see how it goes.
Edit: It looks like we've killed the Mountain Dew website. Keep trying though, it's bound to come back up sometime...
Edit 2: The pet is mailed to all of your characters, so you don't have to decide which one gets it.

Yeah me too. After some confusion from various posters, I'd thought I'd waste 15 minutes trying to see if I could get it myself (UK resident, EU realm), short answer is NO.
"This item can only be delivered to a US World of Warcraft account."
You don't have to register with the mountain dew website for the promotion and you CAN log in directly to your EU Battle.net account from a US Battle.net account login screen (which the redemption screen directs you too). However you will ultimately be greeted with the above message.
Note, in theory you could be a resident outside the US and claim this promotion, as long as you have a US WoW account.

Lol, its possible, just click on the link from the mountendew site and login with your battle.net account (http://www.mountaindewgamefuel.com/redeem.php).
Got the pet on european server xD, the text in the letter is translated and everything!

Got the message too, but i clicked on the button below and the pet was send to all chars.
Maybe it has something to do with the battle.net site translation? I used the german one.

IT IS possible to get the pet, you just have to ignore the 'This is for US only' after you log in through the US Battle.net site and just click redeem (make sure you are on the WoW Client Log in screen before you click it).

I now have my pet. I was getting persistent "Redemption Error" and "Page Not Found" errors after clicking the 'Redeem' button, I assumed this was location related, but in hindsight it's probably just a server-load issue.
So with persistence, on my fifth try, I finally got "Redemption Successful". Checked my account and I have my new pet.

Well, it seems it's no longer possible now. At least not for some players. It didn't work for me, and after reading a little in the forumpost posted later in this thread it seems that
A) either it was bug on the part of the mountaindew/battle.net sites, or
B) like some guy said: he spoke to a GM and the GM told him that yes, it was possible to get the pet on a EU account, but there was a bug ingame with that now which they were fixing.
I am REALLY hoping for B.
I've made a ticket in the hope of finding out more.
(And I also heard there is a Spanish guy actually suing Blizzard for this, wow, lol?)

If you're talking about the in game pets then yes. As for the drink I am not sure. Haven't seen any yet.

Total crap that you need a battlenet account. Considering how buggy they've been for logins, i've opted not to convert over until absolutely necessary.

For my dollar, I've had no problems what so ever loading my battle.net account (which I use a Mobile Authenticator on my iPhone with).

This is 100% wrong.
Yes, there have been some problems with logins, but REGULAR accounts have had some trouble too.

@SaintStryfe - You are remarkably lucky then or perhaps don't play the game as often as some of us. I can count at least five times this year when Blizzard has posted maintenance saying that the battle.net login/authentication servers would be down - right in the middle of my prime gaming time. That's just announced time. Another three (or four.. my memory is getting fuzzy) patch Tuesdays, the Battle.net authentication servers then weren't up for several hours after the regular authentication was.
Again, this may simply be a matter of timing, your gaming time may not coincide with either the tail-end of the maintenance, or planned battle.net server maintenance.
Also, what does your iphone have to do with battle.net? It's not required for battle.net logins. You've chosen to use the mobile authenticator - that's great.. but your comment seems out of place in relation to the rest of the discussion. Its sounds simply like a plug for the fact you've got an iPhone. We see this a lot on the interwebs! Sigh @ vanity consumerism.
