World of Warcraft Game Fuel commercial hits the airwaves

People have only been able to get their hands on the WoW themed Mountain Dew Game Fuel within the last couple of weeks (and is only officially supposed to be in stores today), despite the months of hype being thrown behind the product. Throwing more gasoline on the hype-fire comes the new Game Fuel commercial, which you can watch above. Watch it a few times, actually. You may need it to fully comprehend what you've just watched.
It's terrible. Nobody who actually plays WoW will find this commercial anything but corny. It's definitely not aimed at us. Or if it is, the people who made it probably... you know, shouldn't have been the ones to make it. And does it frighten anybody else that even though they used two females as the soda-swilling gamers, one of them turned into a dude? I mean, play whatever avatars you want in-game, but there's something disturbing about a pretty young lady hulking out and turning into a bulging green monstrosity. And I'm not talking She-Hulk. I'm talking a throbbing mass of masculine muscle. Augh. I'm not sure I want to let my girlfriend drink this stuff anymore.

Am I the only one who noticed that the Horde chick has a sword in her cart THE ENTIRE TIME?!?!?!?! Look at it again. She was shopping for "Mtn" Dew with a freakin' sword! No wonder she was first in line...

I thought it was pretty cool! No, I didn't have any problem with a female turning into a male. What are you, 12?
And no, I don't mind that it was two females. It wasn't Budweiser bikini babes or anything.
It showed how people really take sides with their factions. I saw a store clerk wearing an Alliance sweatshirt, and I wanted to gank her! Not really, but you know what I mean.

They should have had it the other way around. It should have been a blood elf guy trying to chat up a night elf girl, then they turn into a small boy and a fat old man.
Also @ Alex. It might seem a bit crap to WoW players but it was definatly aimed at them, it doesn't make sense otherwise. If you didn't play WoW (or video games in general for that matter) you wouldn't understand the "joke" of the long standing feud between red and blue.
I mean if they had bought Coke and Sprite you wouldn't automatically think that their drink choice indicated some massive difference in ideology (unless they turned into a Black Panter Party member and a guy from the ku klux klan)

The funny thing is that it didn't kick in about the whole gender switching to male until afterwards and then I thought, "Hmm, Guys do it all the time playing NE females, so maybe a girl thought the orc male was hot (laughs) and wanted to play him." (I'm female, but I do have male alts - mostly NE males and BE males, with a draenei male thrown in for his fun dance).
Basically, that's how I rationalized. Kinda sad though that they always have to use Nightelves and orcs though and always female NE and male orcs... never the other way around or even - God forbid- the original humans who were first pitted against the orcs from the very first game.
All in all, I don't drink Mountain Dew, but I liked the commerical. It was something to amusement myself with.

I logged in just to say that I actually liked it.
I mean, for a mtn dew commercial about WoW, it could have been much, much worse. At least it didnt use in-game footage, or anything.

To Alex... no, soda commercials are not aimed at gamers. They are aimed at soda drinkers. Blizzard's insignificant 12 million subscribers pale in comparison with the power of Coca-Cola. That's big business.
Still, as both a soda drinker and WoW player, I didn't find the commercial all that bad. At least it was a little fun. It also made me think... couldn't Blizzard handle a full-length animated movie by now?

Most likely a temporary loss of sanity. I recommend making a Horde alt, running them to the Barrens at peak hours, and reading Barrens chat for a few hours. You'll never consider rerolling again.
I'd best state that I'm only joking before all the Horde fan boys and fan girls down-vote my comment into a black hole. Both sides are great (Alliance is just better =p)
As for the commercial, I wouldn't go as far as to call it terrible- but it could have been a lot better.
