Breakfast Topic: Most frustrating non-drop

Unless you are a Ridiculously Lucky Bastard, odds are good that you've gone the length of your time in the game without managing to get a particular drop you really wanted. It's been a running joke in my guild that, try as I might, I can never get Pillar of Ferocity to drop from Anetheron. It didn't once drop in the near-year I ran Hyjal during Burning Crusade, and it sure isn't dropping during our occasional fun runs now. I don't even know why I want it as badly as I do. It wasn't a giant upgrade back in the day given how oddly it was itemized for Druid tanks in comparison to the Wildfury Greatstaff, and it's sure as heck not an upgrade now. A Restoration Shaman pal spent each Hyjal alongside me waiting for a pair of Howling Wind Bracers that never came (let's face it, Hyjal hated us), and our Holy Paladin colleague went more than a year in Karazhan without ever seeing a Shard of the VIrtuous. With gear consolidation in Wrath and generally smaller loot lists all-around, you get the slightly more exciting problem of being more likely to see a drop but losing it to someone else, possibly multiple times (see: Illustration of the Dragon Soul, enormous popularity thereof). Spill, folks; what are your horror stories?

Eye of the Broodmother... killed razorscale everyweek since ulduar came out.. dropped oonce and the boomkin got it. Never to be seen again.. but we do need more plate pally items that get de'd to be dropped by the bish.

Goretusk livers - gah, I remember that. Apparently Goretusks were geneticially enchanced to work without livers and only the genetic throwback actually have livers.

Anyone who's played on the horde side for any length of time is undoubted familiar with the elusive Creeper Ichor quest (one of the first in Tarren Mill). Drop rate may or may not have been increased, but last time I did it, I probably killed 250 spiders to get it to drop.

UBRS/Scholomance: Ran these hundreds of times and not once did the Valorous helm or breastplate drop...not once. I was full Valorous except for the helm and breastplate. I still have nightmares

Yeah, mines the Illustration of the Dragon Soul. At least lately. I saw it drop once in four months and lost the roll to one of the 10 casters. It got to be so infuriating that I eventually just paid someone 10k for it. Small price to pay for my sanity and the Resto Druid BiS.

@ micgillam: The drop rate isn't as bad as it used to be. Probably 1/10th of what you had to kill.
One thing that never dropped for me was Hellreaver, the polearm from ramps. A buddy of mine ran me through ramps from 55-59 to get the item and it never dropped. I proceeded to run ramps from 59-63 and it still never dropped. FYI that's a lot of ramps. This was for my warrior fyi.
The second time through outland, on a rogue, I run ramps 3 times and all 3 times Hellreaver drops. What the hell...pun intended.

Black Drake's Heart. I spent 2 days in the Badlands before this quest item finally dropped (I hate not finishing quests that I choose to accept). Although during that time I lucked out and got 2 Dark Whelplings to drop from the drakes and made a pretty penny after tossing them in the AH so all in all, time well spent.

Pandora's Plea. Weve been downing mimiron for absolutely months now and the only person in my guild that's actually got it is a guy we recruited who already had it. Getting any trinkets is just hell all the time.

I remember doing OK like ten-ish times trying to get the chestpiece from Taldaram, then I finally gave up and spent my 80 accumulated EoH's on the T7 chest only to have it drop twice in a row the next two times I went.

I ran Kara from the day I turned 80 until wrath to get my t4 helm (I made it into other higher end raids but I still believe warrior T4 was the best looking in BC so I wanted it) NEVER GOT IT!

I've been running Naxx since I hit 80 in January and have yet to see Grim Toll drop even though 4 bosses drop it.
