Breakfast Topic: The one-of-every-class club

As Turpster would say, it definitely gives you a nice overview of how all the classes work and what their strengths and issues are. And of course it'd be handy to run instances with -- you can roll into endgame instances playing whatever role you want or your guild needs to have.
But as has been said before, I'm always a better player personally when I'm focusing on one character rather than splitting myself up. Even if you do have the time and interest to play each character regularly, it can't be easy to keep all of those various spells and abilities and talents straight in your head. Not to mention that all of that time spent leveling is time taken away from working on endgame reputations (there are certainly plenty of those to grind) or doing something else like endgame raiding or PvP. If you just want to join "the club" for bragging rights, that's one thing (and more power to you). But is there really an advantage in the game to having one level 80 of every class?

I'm working my way down the line of classses with rogue(26) and warlock(72) left to go, I feel it helps understanding how to play the game and play your class though it does sometimes bring unwanted hostility when you suggest a better way to play or raid and then show that you have an 80 and know what your talking about. It's also that much more disheartening to watch others struggle with their class though one day they will learn not to stand in the fire.

Orc Hunter - 80
Undead Warlock - 80
Troll Warrior - 80
Tauren Shaman - 80
Blood Elf Rogue - 80
Human Paladin - 80
Dwarf Priest - 80
Night Elf Druid - 80
Gnome Mage - 80
Draenei DK - 80
Didnt take long at all with RAF. 2 days /played to 60 (3 auto leveled to 59 with grant-a-levels) after that outlands and northerend go pretty fast. I still mostly play my Paladin main (its impossible to gear 10 toons, althought H ToC has helped get them all ilevel 200 epics). My guild loves it because I bring all the professions maxed to the guild and for helping with guild Heroic runs I can fill any role. Not for all people, but since I like to solo alot it works. Also imagine 25 dailys x 15g a daily x 10 toons = 3750g. Gold is never an issue anymore, just finding the time to play them all is.

Perhaps it's my OCD talking, but I can't imagine playing this game without having a character of every class, I'd just feel like I was missing out on part of the action.
I had 9 lvl 60s in vanilla, 9 lvl 70s in BC, and 10 lvl 80s since May of this year.
Next week when Brewfest starts I should be getting 9 violet proto drakes as well, but my poor DK will have to wait a while longer :(

I'm currently heading towards that goal
got 3 80s 2 70s 4 60 s and 1 45 who im gonna reroll as a goblin
I am currently unable to raid due to RL and that's why leveling other toons comes in
i can still experience different classes which is terrific since they all play differently
some of them may be a bit alike (ret pallies and blood dks for example)
but nevertheless give a whole different experience of the game
for example leveling as a feral druid might be similar to leveling a combat rogue
but nowhere near leveling a demonology warlock.
getting toons geared does not seem like a huge problem,
As long as i get them to max level, I can just wait till next expansion launches
and all the mobs and bosses get a health and a damage nerf and i can go through that content
just to see how it is and the gear would still get outdated as the new dungeons roll out
in the end im brining all the professions to my guild and enjoying the experience of playing every class
Since every class gets something special at level 80 or at least the 70-80 bracket it's worth leveling them

Cash, all the proffessions at your fingertips, and fun. I have 3 80's and the other 7 are mid 70's, and money is not a issue anymore....ever. I will always be a raid healer on my main, but running heroics now and then on alts is a nice break too.

I'm in this category too. Holy pally is my main, and he's what comes first, but two others (mage and DK) for heroic and mild raiding fun for something different.
However, for myself, three level 80s is the limit, as I couldn't devote the proper time and effort into more of them to feel like I wasn't dragging the group down.
(Although leveling the new kitty druid is turning out to be more fun than should be allowed.)

Want to always have a character on hand that can fill any roll in a raid?
Just roll a Druid, no need leveling all those alts.

Or a paladin :) But that means higher repair cost :)
I only have 3 80's so far but have most of the other's in the 20-40 range. I am just struggleing with myself if I should roll a priest or a paladin (or maybe shaman). I do have a dps, and a tank, and now I would like to level a healer. I think it is important to play at least all aspects of the game, maybe not all classes but that sounds like fun too.
Not druid, because I have a lvl80 druid on a different server (she is in Alliance, not like my other characters, and tank/healer depending on the expansion) and I dont want a cow. I will definitely have a troll druid though...

You're right about Pallies, but if you want to get really nitty-gritty about it, Druids can do both ranged and melee dps in addition to tanking and healing, making them the 'most' hybrid.

It's true that having a druid (or paladin) can have you doing any role in a raid but only one raid for that character, comes in handy having alts for those alt runs.

This is exactly why I rolled a druid and why I braved the horror that is low-level druid leveling. *shudders* Let's focus on the glorious present and not focus on the remnants of a sad, sad past.

Or even better have 2 druids with 4 dual specs total: bear tank, cat dps, boomkin dps, and tree heals.

Two 80 druids, both resto, both off-spec'd boomkin, although I'm trying to put together a kitty set to swap out one boomkin spec...And 2 1/2 years down the road, I'm still learning resto...my raid dps as boomkin is pretty sad considering the level of gear my main has, because I know how to raid heal, not raid dps...so much for 4 specs lol. But 2 healy raid ID's is great.

Are Blizzard going to extend the amount of characters you can have on 1 server? Surely people must be pushing the limit, by now?

Blizzard has stated many times now that they "have no plans" to increase the character per server limit.

I sure hope so...i have 10 80s already, and my gf wants me to start a new character with her...I WILL NOT DELETE AN 80, BLIZZARD! Plz fix...

Blizzard keeps telling us no. I saw one answer from them stating that they have looked into it and not many people actively play 10 characters. I think this logic is flawed because I may not be playing my level 60 warrior any time soon but I'm certainly not going to delete him!
There is one way to get Blizzard to add this option but I've been reluctant to suggest it, but I'm sure if they knew some of us would pay for extra toon slots they'd be all over it.
