I don't think this page is necessarily new, but I haven't seen it before, and I think it's a great idea. Over on the official
WoW Europe site, they've started tracking player-run and community events
on their Community Events page. Slorkuz is even
posting on the forums when specific community events are coming up, including their latest, an in-game beauty contest called "Miss Undercity" happening on the EU Darkmoon Faire realm this weekend. I think that's great -- these are completely unofficial player-run events, but Blizzard is still helping spread the word about them on an official page.
In fact, I wish they had
something like that on the US page -- if there is one in there, I don't see it linked in the "Community" section as it should be. As an example (and a reminder), Sleeper Cartel is
hosting that Dead Man's Party this coming Saturday evening on Perenolde. It would be great for Blizzard to give a little extra official punch (and maybe even some pie) to these player-planned parties.

Not only that, EU-Darkmoon Faire is the home for level 29 twinks. I moved mine there after the 3.2 patch which shut down queues on most of the battlegroups. Nice to see this event posted in wow.com else i wouldn't have know. I'll check it out on sunday if i'm logged.

Hmm, i've played horde side on Darkmoon Faire for a looong time, and i never heard about this event - or any others, as RP seems to be relatively guild exclusive there, nice to see someone organising a big event like this and getting the helping hand they need from blizzard.

I've been reading these since I started playing WoW, they're a good source of fun, I always wished I could join in or start one, but I play on a normal server, RP servers are just a pipe dream for me, my girlfriend doesn't like the idea of playing on one. Wuh ;_;
Still I can soft RP my Paladin on a normal server, I don't care if people think I'm weird!

I remember seeing somewhere that Blizz doesn't like large player-run events because it creates havoc & stress on the servers. I remember the Running of the Bulls for Ezra had to be cancelled shortly after it began because Blizz told BRK to shut it down. So it doesn't surprise me at all that they don't endorse these events. I assume it's different on EU servers for whatever reason.

Well the "tribute run" for Ezra was different since he was well known. So people rolled from other realms to take part in it, obviously, the server couldn't handle a few thousand people suddenly popping up in Mulgore.
Generally, you're lucky if you get about forty participants or more for these events unless the event involves something (or someone) a lot of people care for. And believe me, with "just" that fifty people can get quite a handful to manage if they need to be reigned.

Yeah its great and all, but the sense of community here in the states is nearly void.
Too many halo generation morons.
Maybe this could work on an RP server like Moonguard, but even there a majority of the RP players dont know what they are doing.
Most of the EU has an insanely more mature sense of community out side of the game, and a significantly more mature player base inside the game.

Oh, and while Ghostcrawler did make a post in the anti-level-one raid thread on the test realm, my race course is locked in and ready to go. For the last time? Who knows? At the very least though...do you wanna miss out on the ugliest race I've ever created AND the chance to get 3000g in one fell swoop?
