Breakfast Topic: Your Holiday WoW

I live roughly 2000 miles away from anyone I'd celebrate with, but my wife and I live close to my mother in law, meaning that we'll spend the holidays close to home and save for the specific days themselves will have the same or more time to play, but much of my raiding guild will be traveling and as a result raiding will most likely be suspended from mid December on. This wasn't as much of an issue for us last year due to Wrath of the Lich King launching in November... the holiday season was taken up by folks leveling... but this year it looks like five mans will be our major WoW excursions until the new year.
So what about you? Will you be raiding as usual, taking some time off, running heroics, or even levling alts? How will the holidays change how you play WoW?

I've been spending a decent amount of time with family, but whenever people aren't doing things together I've rushed back to Azeroth to use my Spirit of Sharing buff to speed up rep grinds.

I will do my ordinary stuff in Azeroth but with the holidays coming , I will try to get out in the world more often with someone special : )

Along with a bag full of marking to do over the Christmas holidays, I'm going to try and run the new heroics as many times as is humanly possible!

If this week(end) is any indication, it'll be boring, quiet 6 weeks. Our guild skipped 2 raid nights due to the holiday abcenses and the server (Bloodhoof/A) was dead overall...pretty much ghost town with no (decent) pug raids to be had (yes they are out there).

I've always found the holidays to bring more, and better raids. The exception is on the day of the holiday itself, when there's not much going on at all. The servers also have a better atmosphere when the holiday is closing in, as many of the underage players have been forced to travel with their parents to a family gathering, or vacationing spot.
For me, I spent Thanksgiving playing, even raided the night before. I haven't a clue for Christmas, but even if the guild takes an extended raiding break, there's always pug raids and five-mans to keep me entertained. Perhaps I'll grind out a few new heirloom pieces.

I think it's funny you use the term "Underage". I understand there are many immature players out there but age often has nothing to do with it. And last time I checked Video games are more broadly played by these "under aged" players than people of your ripe old age.

I'm not trying to imply that all the bad players are underage, only that most underage players are indeed, bad. There are always exceptions to the rule, but eliminating most of them from the gaming pool leads to a much better overall experience. There are those who are older and make terrible players as well, certainly. But underage players make up the majority of those player types is all.
All of the studies I have perused over the years indicate that underage players are surprisingly -not- the majority in the gaming world. Just do a simple Google search and ready any of the millions of results: the average gamer's age is in the range of 25-35.

Given our lack of tanks, and my love of gold, I'll level a Death Knight towards 80 so I can eventually throw him/her/the Dwarf in front of all and sundry in the good name of guild progression.

Well, i recently joined a new raiding guild, and if am not travelling il probally be raiding, our leveling toons.
I like small christmas, i like small trees, small nativity scenes but, ( as i like small families).

Working in retail means I have less time than I'd like to be playing WoW this holiday season. Hopefully I at least get enough time to polish off Winter Veil, so I don't have to wait until this time next year for my Violet Proto-Drake. Having to wait until next Halloween because of that damm Squashling is bad enough.

when these holidays hit i thought i'd just spend all my time in wow doing all the things i never have time to do. but it actually turns out that since its the holidays everyone expects you to spend time with them instead. so its kinda like trading one job for another and my playtime stays about the same

Actualy, in the last two weeks my guild has raided more than we have in the past 3 months, which was Zero. We're finally in ToC10, tonight we 1-Shot Beasts and Jara. Had a little trouble getting the Champs down, but once I face-pulled [I had girlfriend agro and wasn't paying attention to where I was running and the fact that I wasn't stealthed >_

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have plenty of time to raid but my computer is not yet equipped to do so. (Damn 512 mb ram)

I have Dec 24th - Jan 4th off paid (I so love working for a state university), so I will be working on getting yet another toon to 80 :)
