Last week Eyonix started
a poll on the forums asking players what they do directly after logging in (all of the options are listed in the picture above). For me, it's no contest -- before I do anything else, I always pop the friends list up to see who's around. The only time this doesn't happen is if I'm logging on in a rush for the night's raid, but I try to limit the number of times that occurs. Reading this poll has made me realize the extent to which I depend on my bank alt for mail and AH-related business; my main very rarely needs to check her mail.

Greet my guild, head for the Argent tournament, and queue for Heroics while I do my dailies.

While I did used to do things like that, since blizz neglected to add the shoulders from wintergrasp for feral druids, the first thing i do is bring up my map, see if we've got wintergrasp. If we've got it, I then run to the portal, change to swift flight form, fly to the vendor, get disappointed , right click exit wintergrasp, log off.

Which aint so bad ofcourse, nice to have something to look forward to, just it's nice when it turns up too.
Otherwise, I'd probably still look to see if we have wintergrasp. My usual routine is LFG if we have WG, battlegrounds if not. And all that goes out of the window if anythings happening on world defence.

I look at my guy, run around wherever he is, possibly kill something, then log out. I've only been on a little since early Jan. and am in a WoW slump, can't bring myself to play atm.

Allison: Your answer seems to imply that you read the question as when you log into a particular character. I may be reading you wrong, though. I read the poll as when you log into WoW generally, not when you log into a particular character.
Out of curiosity, when you sit down for a session, do you check your auctions first or log directly into a character you play?

I'm not quite sure how I'd answer it either.
99% of the time I log into all my auction alts first before my main, so I suppose that would be the best choice.
While on them I do usually do a /who MyGuildName to see who is online though.

I queue to tank a random heroic to get my daily frost emblems before the latency goes up (assuming I get home before it does). Then I do tournament dailies. If my latency is still low enough, I do more random heroics until it goes up or I get tired of it.
In the event that my latency is too high to tank, I'll queue as DPS and start dailies while I wait for the queue.

If you're taking massive damage as a clothie, you're doing it wrong. As a priest you have power word: shield as a warlock you have a pet and as a mage you should be able to kill anything before it reaches you, if not, frost nova, range, pewpewpew away again...from a distance.

I say hi to the guild and see what they're doing while checking the mailbox, then I head to Dalaran to do the fishing and cooking dailies.

yep — me too, in that order (but not in bed, haha). i also check to see if my tailoring cooldowns are ready, and also if my damn egg from the oracles has hatched.

Wow, this makes me really feel like a dawdler. I usually log on, wait for Dalaran to load, and then go check what the fishing and cooking daily are for that day, do them if I feel like it, and then stare at my achievements pane while trying to remember what artificial goal I should strive for that day.

...go and land on top of the roofs above the horde area in Dalaran and target people with the focusing lenses. And they can't do a single thing about it. I queue up for dungeons while I do it.
