On Father's Day weekend, the Trumps are skipping a visit to one of their family-owned properties for a different kind of secluded getaway.

President Trump, who is known to frequently travel to one of his plush residences in Florida and New Jersey for the weekend, instead flew aboard the Marine One to Camp David on Saturday, a secluded government-owned retreat in Maryland's Catoctin Mountains.

The president's inaugural visit to the wooded hideaway arrives nearly five months into his presidency. However, the retreat is a place many presidents who served before him frequented for a vacation from Washington.

Few predict the world leader known for his expensive tastes will make this a habit. Earlier this year, Trump told a European journalist that "Camp David is very rustic."

"You know how long you'd like it? For about 30 minutes," he said.

The president, first lady and their son, Barron, were joined by Melania Trump's parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, for the overnight stay.

According to the Camp David blog, which is accessible through the White House website, "The president and first lady are planning to stay overnight in the Aspen Lodge and will return to the White House on Sunday."
