It came from the Blog: We flamed the Eastern Kingdoms

The Eastern Kingdoms were flamed and we had fun doing it. Our It came from the Blog event last Saturday was actually two events: an all levels event followed by a mounted/flightpathed event. Many players took my advice and created Death Knights, giving the lowbies plenty of protection for the run through dangerous territories. Mike Schramm, Allison Robert and Daniel Whitcomb all joined in on the fun.

The lowbie event honored all of the flames from Falconwing Square to Hammerfall, with a couple of desecrations on the side. The mounted event took to the flightpaths and completed the Flame Keeper of Eastern Kingdoms achievement. I also got the unofficial achievement for running into every fence along the way. Running + typing = hard.

A pictorial journal of our fun is in the gallery below. And I used the wow.com addon to upload my activity for the event. I wish I had used the in-game blog feature to annotate it, but I will next time. If you use the addon to upload your It came from the Blog activity, it will show up in the guild log as well.

I'm thinking of trying video for future events. Maybe Turpster can give me some pointers. Allison does a good job with her videos, too. Would you watch It came from the Blog videos?

Reminder: IcftB Midsummer Fire event today

After you listen to the WoW Insider show today, join us for some Midsummer fun:
  • When: Saturday, June 27th, 5PM Eastern (2PM Pacific, 3PM Server time)
  • Where: The Midsummer Fire Festival site in the Court of the Sun, Silvermoon City on Zangarmarsh, U.S.
  • Who: Any Horde character who is not in the service of the Lich King. (Death Knights are recommended as long as they have finished their initial quests and have been accepted by Thrall.)
  • How: Just send a tell to Robinella or any It Came from the Blog member to get an invite to the raid and the guild.
Expect fun, fire, experience, and lots and lots of running/riding. Our goal is to grab an achievement or two, as well.

We hope to see you there!

It came from the Blog: Join us for the Midsummer Fire Festival

I warned you this was coming, and now it's almost here! Join us for WoW.com's It Came from the Blog Midsummer Fire Fun and let's go desecrate some Alliance flames! For the Horde!

Actually, we have a lot of players who normally play Alliance -- this isn't a jingoistic event. It's just an excuse to get together and have fun. We may even pick up an achievement or two. Here are the details:
  • When: Saturday, June 27th, 5PM Eastern (2PM Pacific, 3PM Server time)
  • Where: The Midsummer Fire Festival site in the Court of the Sun, Silvermoon City on Zangarmarsh, U.S.
  • Who: Any Horde character who is not in the service of the Lich King. (Death Knights are recommended as long as they have finished their initial quests and have been accepted by Thrall.)
  • How: Just send a tell to Robinella or any It Came from the Blog member to get an invite to the raid and the guild
More info is after the break.

It Came from the Blog: Now recruiting

[Guild Recruitment - City] It came from the Blog is now recruiting. We are an ultra casual guild where WoW.com writers join in scheduled events with readers. We have a tabard and even a Guild Bank (though usually empty). PST to Robiness if interested.

With the Midsummer Fire Festival coming up, we think it's time to revive the activities of our very own guild: It Came from the Blog. We will be announcing the date and time of our desecrating fires run soon, as well as other events that may or many not coincide with in-game holidays.

If you want to join us, make a Horde character on Zangarmarsh U.S. and ask an ICftB member for an invite -- many have the ability. I will also be popping in and out on one of my characters: Robiness, Robinelle, Robinella or Robinara. (Perhaps you see a trend?)

Events in the past have been for any level and the Midsummer Fire Festival get-together will be the same, but it is always easier to get around if you are mounted and/or old enough to defend yourself against mobs along the way. Also, there will be some events that are designed for higher levels. If you are interested in joining us, I recommend making a Death Knight on Zangarmarsh and getting it through the initial quests, so that it will be available when we start up again.

For more information about It came from the Blog, please read our FAQ.

Reminder: It Came from the Blog Lunar Festival event today!

So, here I am in Orgrimmar, all ready for today's It Came from the Blog Lunar Festival event. The Spousal Unit is going to take The Spawn for ice cream so that I can focus on herding you cool cats from Elder to Elder. It looks like people (Hi Cowzilla!) have been getting their Death Knights through the initial quests and sanctioned by Thrall to be ready to hang with the lowbies today. I also have some emails (Hi Diahix!), but unfortunately, I can't ginvite via email. Here are the details:
  • When: 6PM Eastern Time today, January 31st. (That's 4PM server time, 3PM Pacific Time)
  • Where: Meet at the Bank in Orgrimmar, Zangarmarsh U.S. (PvE server, sorry ganker wannabes)
  • Who: Any Horde character at any level as long as you have 3 silver and Thrall has welcomed you to the Horde (I mean you, DKs)
  • What: We'll be doing the initial Lunar Festival quests and then running around picking up Ancient Coins as well as flightpaths for you non-Death Knights
  • How: Send a tell to Robiness or any It Came from the Blog guild member for invite to the guild
Please be at the bank in Orgrimmar before 6PM so that we can get started on time. If you have a low level Tauren character, I will summon you, but otherwise everyone should be able to get there easily.

I hope to see you there!

It Came from the Blog: Join us for Lunar Festival 2009

Did you know that WoW Insider has a guild? It is an event-oriented, excruciatingly casual guild called It Came from the Blog and it resides on Zangarmarsh, US, Horde-side. . We haven't done anything since Hallow's End, but it's time to dust off the cobwebs and go visit some Elders.

That's right, this Saturday, ICftB will be celebrating the Lunar Festival by honoring our Elders and collecting Ancient Coins. Here are the details:
  • When: Saturday, January 31st, 6PM Eastern (3PM Pacific, 4PM Server time)
  • Where: Bank in Orgrimmar on Zangarmarsh, U.S.
  • Who: Any Horde character with at least 3 silver and not in the service of the Lich King. (Death Knights are fine as long as they have finished their initial quests and have been accepted by Thrall.)
  • How: Just send a tell to Robiness or any It Came from the Blog member to get an invite to the raid and the guild

Reminder: It came from the Blog Hallow's End event tonight

With all the hubbub about zombies, we haven't forgotten that WoW Insider's in-game guild will be getting together to fight the Headless Horseman's flames in Brill. Here are the details:
  • Where: Brill on Zangarmarsh Server (U.S.)
  • When: 6:30pm Pacific Time (7:30pm Server Time, 9:30pm Blog/Eastern time)
  • Who: Any Horde character, any class or race or level
  • How: Send a tell to Robiness or anyone in guild for an invite to the raid and the guild.
I am offering summons to new Tauren characters, but everyone else should be able to make it to Brill easily. Please login a few minutes ahead of time and make your way to Tirisfal Glades. If we have time, we may have to zombify the place -- more than it already is.

I'll be there with a too much candy sugar high (though I don't like candy corn) and a few other bloggers may be attending as well (if they aren't too busy eating brains). We hope you will join us!

It came from the Blog: Join us for a Hallow's End in-game event!

We're back and spookier than ever. After (another) long hiatus, It came from the Blog is back and ready to put out some fires. Our previous fire fighting abilities are well documented and now we are taking them to Brill to help with the constant attacks from the Headless Horseman. Here are the details:
  • Where: Zangarmarsh U.S. Server, Horde side -- Brill, Tirisfal Glades (on the other side of the Zeppelin tower from The Undercity)
  • When: 6:30pm Pacific time (7:30pm Server Time, 9:30PM Eastern/Blog time), Friday, October 24
  • Who: Any level, any Horde race, any class
  • How: Send a tell to Robiness or anyone in the It came from the Blog guild for an invite
We will be doing the Hallow's End quests in Brill and socializing, so any level is encouraged to attend -- even if you just created a character before the event. Summons will be provided for noobie Taurens, but all others should be able to get to Brill pretty easily.

So take time out of your Headless Horseman and nerfed raid boss farming to come join us for a little bit of casual fun. We look forward to seeing you!

IcftB Reminder: More Midsummer fun tonight

Don't forget to join It came from the Blog tonight at 6PM Pacific time for some more Midsummer festivities.
  • When: Today! Wednesday, July 2nd at 6PM Pacific (7PM server time, 9PM Eastern)
  • Where: Undercity (Ruins of Lordaeron), Zangarmarsh Realm (U.S.)
  • Who: Any Horde character, any level
  • How: Just send a tell to Robiness or anyone in the guild for an invite to the guild and the raid
We will be starting in the Undercity and then touring the flames of the Eastern Kingdoms. I do have some shards for summoning, but if you can get there on your own power, please be at the flame in the Ruins of Lordaeron at the start time.

We are guaranteed to have lots of fun, dings and deaths -- but fun deaths. Mike Schramm and a few other bloggers will be there. Will you?

It came from the Blog: Desecration of flames, continued

Although we had a great time on Sunday, we neglected an entire continent of Alliance flames which desperately need desecrating! So, those of us from It came from the Blog will be rectifying this on Wednesday and you are welcome to join us. Here are the details:
  • When: Wednesday, July 2nd at 6PM Pacific (7PM server time, 9PM Eastern)
  • Where: Undercity (Ruins of Lordaeron), Zangarmarsh Realm (U.S.)
  • Who: Any Horde character, any level
  • How: Just send a tell to Robiness or anyone in the guild for an invite to the guild and the raid
The Midsummer Fire Festival ends this Friday, so you only have a few days left to reap the benefits. If you don't have a character on Zangarmarsh, Horde-side yet, you can just create a new character and join us, since the quests we'll be doing can be done by any level.

Play hookie on your raid and come join us on Zangarmarsh! See you there!

Reminder: IcftB Midsummer event today!

Are you overwhelmed by all of the awesome info from the Worldwide Invitational? Do you need a break from earning your Season 4 gear? Does the news of Diablo 3 make you want to participate in more fire-related activities? Then come join us today for the It came from the Blog Midsummer Fire Festival event!
  • When: Today at 4PM Pacific (5PM Server, 7PM Eastern)
  • Where: Orgrimmar, Zangarmarsh U.S. Server
  • Who: Any Horde character, any level
  • How: Send a tell to Robiness or any guild member to get an invite to the guild and the raid
I'm currently farming shards on Robiness for summoning purposes, so don't worry if you can't get to Orgrimmar easily. And the quests we'll be doing can be done by any level and in a raid, so make a new character if you don't have a Horde character on Zangarmarsh already.

We hope to see you there!

It came from the Blog: Let's honor and desecrate fires!

It's time again for another It came from the Blog event. Come one, come all to the Zangarmarsh realm and join us in honoring the fires of the Horde and desecrating the fires of the Alliance as a part of the new and improved Midsummer Fire Festival.

Here are the details:
  • When: Sunday, June 29th 4PM Pacific (That's 5PM server time, 7PM Eastern)
  • Where: Meet at Orgrimmar, Zangarmarsh Server (US)
  • How: Send Robiness or anyone in It came from the Blog for an invite to the guild and the event.
Last year's event was fun, but there are new things to do this year including running around defending fires and desecrating those of the Alliance and collecting Burning Blossoms. So if you're not busy earning your Arena Season 4 gear, perhaps you could take time out to join us.

It came from the Blog: Revenge of the Orc-Moms

Last Sunday, It came from the Blog celebrated Mother's Day by taking a bunch of female Orcs to the Barrens and telling "Your Mom" jokes. I had a lot of fun and discovered that my ICFTB guildies were very creative. Daniel Whitcomb also joined us with Okasama, his Orc-Mom.

On Saturday, I was on the WoW Insider Show with Mike, Turpster, Amanda Dean and her mom, Linda Emrys and we discussed what we would be doing for the event. Turpster joked that we would be telling jokes such as "Your Mom is so supportive, she's like a suspension bridge." I contradicted him on the show, but he ended up being right to a point. Many of the jokes did begin "Your Mom is so cool..." and "Your Mom is so hot...", but there were of course plenty of "Yo mama is so fat..." and the like, as well.

It came from the Blog: The running of the Orphans

Last Sunday, It came from the Blog gathered to run the Orgrimmar Children's Week quests together. Some weren't level 10 yet, but ran with us anyway. Because many of us didn't have the flightpaths (and because it was more fun) we ran together from objective to objective.

Our Orphans were very well behaved, even after we gave them ice cream. I hope they enjoyed their group field trip as much as I did.

Don't forget to join us this Sunday for the Revenge of the Orc-Moms. We'll be meeting at 6pm Eastern/Blog Time (4pm Server time, 3pm Pacific). Bring your female Orc with some form of "mother" in the name and your maternal sense of humor. I hope to see you there!

It came from the Blog: Mother's Day event

You are cordially invited to join It came from the Blog for a very silly event on Mother's Day. We are going to pay tribute to the women who brought us into this world by going to the place where she is mentioned daily: The Barrens. I know, she's not exactly mentioned with respect there. But the thing about Ur Mom jokes is that they are jokes. No one in Barrens Chat has actually met your mother, let alone done that with her. And it's time we exact a little revenge for our dear mothers and show that they (and we) have a sense of humor about it.

So go to Zangarmarsh server and make an Orc Female with a name that includes some form of "mother" in it. I made one named Mutti, which is the German word for Mommy. No, I'm not saying my or your or anyone's mother looks like an Orc Female. And I don't think my mom ever sported a belly shirt, let alone a mohawk and a nose ring. These females will not be representing the way your mom looks, but instead her inner warrior (or shaman or whatever).

More details are after the jump.
