Incoming newbies, but why? {WoW}

Nov 8th 2009 3:46PM Another possibility is that Blizzard wants to improve its retention rate in WoW. By making the game more and more accessible at high levels, they've improved retention for casual players who did make it to 80, and now by improving the way they teach new players the game, they'll improve retention on players who didn't make it or are just starting.

The business model Blizzard has shown with WoW recently is a very retention-oriented model - the changes they've made to the game are very much designed to improve the percentage of players who stick around long-term.

The argument for paladin stances {WoW}

Nov 6th 2009 11:48PM I don't really see Paladins as insanely overpowered in most areas of the game. The one place they do perhaps too well is battlegrounds, and that's due to the simplicity of the class (hey, I play one, I can say it).

You only have a limited toolbox, so the finesse required of a class with 3 or 4 times as many keybinds just isn't necessary to get some decent performance out of a Paladin. That same simplicity bites them in the ass in Arenas, particularly at high levels where mere high damage doesn't cut it anymore.

Upping the skillcap of Paladins by making their abilities more complex will solve way more problems than simply denying them access to a given ability without first initiating a nearly meaningless GCD. I don't care about whether I'm in Ret or Devo aura when I'm going into a battleground PvP encounter that will last perhaps 15 seconds. Forcing me to care by attaching a lot of other restrictions just seems clunky.

Nov 6th 2009 6:05PM Perhaps a costume would help? Disguise yourself as a pirate! No one targets pirates, right?

Nov 6th 2009 12:08PM I like how a response which honestly answers the precise question posed in the article gets modded down.

Oct 31st 2009 4:39PM I hope it's a tenacity pet. A Spirit-tenacity pet would be amazing!
