Retro-styled component streamer

Whether you want to add high-res streaming music to your classic hi-fi, or you're building a system from scratch, JBL's MP350 makes it easy and looks the part. Convenient built-in streaming options accommodate the way most people listen to music today.

Plug this retro-styled component into your favorite amp — the SA-550 is designed to be a perfect match. Then you can start listening to music from your preferred streaming services in rich detail on your traditional stereo setup.

Flexible streaming options

You'll connect this streamer to your home network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi using the free JBL Premium Audio app for Apple and Android devices — or forego the app and simply add it to your network using either AirPlay speaker setup (for Apple users) or the Google Home app for Chromecast users. Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect users can choose the MP350 as a player from right within their apps.

The MP350 will also show up in your player list if you're using Roon (subscription required). You can even play music files from an external storage device like a thumb drive connected to this player's rear-panel USB Type-A port.

Wired & Wireless Network Connection: Connectivity: The JBL MP350 Classic supports a wired (Ethernet) or wireless (WiFi) network connection to your router and ISP. The MP350 Classic is equipped with an RJ-45 LAN jack for a wired connection to your network router. It also offers built-in 2.4/5GHz dual-band WiFi (802.11n) for a wireless connection to your network router. By connecting the network audio streamer to your network, you gain access to Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect & Tidal Connect, as well as Roon and UPnP (Universal Plug and Play).

Note: To configure a WiFi network setup, you will need to use the JBL Premium Audio App (for Apple iOS or Android OS), the Google Home App (for Apple iOS and Android OS), or AirPlay2 on an Apple iOS device

JBL Premium Audio App: JBL Premium Audio App (for Apple iOS or Android OS) enables quick product setup on a WiFi network and fast access to music playback. Once connected, you can access a wealth of music including podcasts and internet radio stations, Qobuz & Amazon Music, as well as access to your local network's UPnP devices and your plugged in USB MSC device.

  • Internet Radio & Podcasts: The JBL Premium Audio App provides access to a huge catalog of internet radio stations and podcasts. You can even add Favorites for quicker and more convenient access.
  • Amazon Music: Listen to millions of songs, thousands of playlists, and ad-free personalized stations with Amazon Prime & Unlimited Music - now streaming HD and Ultra-HD music tracks (subscription is required).
  • Qobuz: Qobuz offers the biggest catalog of Hi-Fi and Hi-Res albums in the world, both for new releases and specialized genres. For hundreds of thousands of albums, Qobuz includes all the information you need to recreate the appeal of a real CD - the names of musicians, producers, lyrics (everything you need to know to appreciate your favorite albums). Qobuz offers MP3, CD, and Hi-Res quality subscriptions.
  • UPnP (Universal Plug and Play): With a network connection, you'll be able to effortlessly stream music stored on your Windows PC, Mac computer, NAS drive, or other UPnP compliant device directly to the JBL network audio streamer using the JBL Premium Audio App. For playback from a network device, the network device needs to be running a universal plug and play (UPnP) service, such as Windows Media Player 11. Other free and paid-for UPnP services are available for other computer operating systems. Some network attached storage (NAS) systems include a built-in version of a UPnP service. Supported music files include MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, ALAC, AIFF, and FLAC ( up to 24-bit/192kHz); as well as DSD (128) and MQA audio files.
  • USB MSC (Mass Storage Class) The rear-panel USB-A port (5V/1A) supports playback of a variety of music files store on a USB MSC (mass storage class) device, such as a thumbdrive or HDD (hard disk drive). An external HDD will require a separate AC power supply. These USB MSC music files can be accedes using the JBL Premium Audio App. Supported music files include MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, ALAC, AIFF, and FLAC ( up to 24-bit/192kHz); as well as DSD (128) and MQA audio files. The USB device should be formatted in FAT 12 or FAT 32. *The network audio streamer's USB port does not support USB hubs, card readers, Apple iOS device, or Android OS devices.

Spotify & Tidal Connect: The JBL MP350 Classic network audio streamer supports Spotify Connect & Tidal Connect, making listening to some of your favorite online music services even simpler.

  • Spotify Connect: The MP350 Classic offers Spotify Connect support, so you can stream millions of songs from your portable device with ease. You will need to subscribe to Spotify Premium and have the Spotify App on your Apple iOS or Android smartphone, so you can stream Spotify to the speaker system. Spotify is a digital music service that gives you on-demand access to one of the largest music libraries in the world. Spotify makes it easier than ever to discover, manage, and share music with your friends. You can browse music by artist, album, track, or most popular; and create your own music library with customized playlists.
  • Tidal Connect: The integration of Tidal Connect will enable Tidal users to instantly select and wirelessly stream music to the MP350 Classic from within the Tidal app (for Apple iOS and Android OS). Tidal is a global streaming service that offers over 30 million songs in high-fidelity CD sound quality. Tidal has two pricing tiers; either $9.99 or $19.99 a month. Both pricing levels allow you to access Tidal's entire music library. The $19.99 tier has the added benefit of high-fidelity sound at CD-level quality.

Chromecast Built-In: Use the Google Home App (for Apple iOS and Android OS) to enable Chromecast built-in. Chromecast built-in gives you access to hundreds of online music streaming services, internet radio, and podcasts. Chromecast built-in streams audio directly from the cloud, so you get the 24-bit/96kHz sound quality and the ability to enjoy crystal clear sound exactly the way the artist intended. Simply tap the Cast button from a Chromecast built-in compatible music app on your Apple iOS or Android OS device to start streaming to the JBL MP350 Classic. You can search, browse, play, skip, and turn up the volume directly from the music apps you know and love on your compatible smartphone or tablet. Chromecast built-in supports FLAC, WAV, AAC, and MP3 music files. While you cast your music, you can still use your smartphone to answer a call, play a game, send a text, and even leave the room - all without interrupting what's playing on the JBL MP350 Classic network audio streamer.

  • Online Music & Internet Radio: Chromecast built-in lets you play music from popular music services and search by artist, song, genre, album playlist, mood, or activity. You can also listen to your favorite internet radio stations and podcasts. Compatible music and internet radio apps include TidalSpotifyPandoraTuneIniHeart RadioYouTube Music, and more (subscriptions and fees will apply). You'll also be able to stream your favorite music, playlists, podcasts, and more that are stored on your Android (OS 5.0+) device to the JBL MP350 Classic. You cannot stream stored content on an Apple iOS device using Chromecast built-in. If you're on your laptop or computer, you can also cast any music streaming website through the Chrome web browser to the speaker.
  • Multiroom Audio Distribution: Add more Chromecast built-in speakers and components (sold separately) throughout your home to create a whole house audio experience. You can play the same Chromecast built-in compatible music app (like Tidal, Spotify, or Pandora) on all speakers or groups of speakers in different rooms of your home. You'll be able control the multiroom audio system from the Google Home app on your Apple iOS or Android device, or using the Google Assistant and your voice on a compatible Google Home device.
  • Google Assistant Voice Control: Purchase a Google Assistant enabled smart speaker (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) and gain voice control of compatible Chromecast Built-in music apps. You'll be able to access a specific music app and then select a specific station or song using only your voice. You'll also have voice control over Play, Pause, Skip, & Volume. The MP350 Classic network audio streamer and your Google Assistant smart speaker must be connected to the same wireless (WiFi) network.

Notes:

  • Chromecast built-in currently supports a single account per user (up to 6) and streaming service.
  • Click here for a complete list of Chromecast built-in compatible apps.
  • A separate Google Assistant smart speaker (sold separately) is required for voice control. You will also need to agree to Google's Privacy Statement to use voice control.
  • MQA is not supported by Chromecast built-in's version of Tidal.

AirPlay 2 with Siri: AirPlay 2 is an advanced and easy-to-use wireless multiroom audio platform for iTunes, Apple Music, and other compatible Apple iOS apps. With AirPlay 2 you can play any audio from your Apple iOS device (running iOS 11.4 or later) or Mac computer (running OS X 10.13.2) on the network audio streamer and other compatible AirPlay 2 speakers throughout your home. You can choose to play audio in one room, play the same audio in grouped rooms, or play the same audio in every room. If you are an Apple Music subscriber, you can even play different music in different rooms (you can control and group directly from Apple's Music App and Home app on your Apple iOS device). You'll be able to ask Siri-enabled devices (like your Apple iPhone, iPad, or Watch) to control playback of your Apple Music content on the network audio streamer. You can even watch videos and movies from YouTube and Netflix on your compatible Apple iOS device or Mac computer with perfectly synced audio on the network audio streamer.

Roon Ready: Roon is a feature rich music library and playback application that compiles all the music files available to your network and makes them easily available to play across all other Roon enabled audio devices in your home. Roon manages digital music files (including FLAC, WAV, AIFF, ALAC, and DSD) collected on hard drives and networked storage. It can also watch your iTunes library, and optionally integrate with the Tidal and Qobuz music streaming services. Roon is available for mobile, laptop or desktop devices. When you open the Roon app, it will display your complete audio library together with its metadata and artwork along with all the Roon enabled devices around your house. Simply select the music you wish to play and the JBL MP350 Classic or other Roon device in which you want to hear it on.

  • To use Roon you will need a Roon Server running on the same network as the JBL MP350 Classic.
  • The Roon Server is media server software that runs on your computer, NAS, or turnkey appliance (like Nucleus or ROCK - sold separately), located on the network within your home.

Analog & Digital Audio Outputs: The JBL MP350 Classic is outfitted with both analog & digital audio outputs. There is a set of analog stereo RCA outputs to connect the network audio streamer to your integrated amplifier or stereo receiver. You can set the analog output to Fixed or Variable. There is also an optical (toslink) digital output and a coaxial (SPDIF) digital output that can be used to bypass the DAC of the MP350 Classic and utilize the higher quality DAC of your integrated amp or stereo receiver. The digital outputs are set to Fixed.

  • The digital audio outputs are recommended when using the MP350 Classic with the JBL SA550 integrated amplifier or other integrated amp with a high quality DAC.
  • You can only use one set of audio outputs at a time (you must select Analog or Digital in the MP350 Classic' menu).

Front-Panel Display: The front-panel display will indicate source selection and menu options. It does not support song/artist/album information. There are controls on the front-panel of the MP350 Classic.

IR Remote: The included IR remote control provides wireless operation of basic functions for the JBL MP350 Classic network audio streamer. Basic functions include Power On/Off, Volume Up/Down, Mute, Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, Menu Navigation, and Display Brightness.

Trigger Out: The MP350 Classic is equipped with a 12-volt Trigger Out (3.5mm) that can be used to connect a 12-volt Trigger In (3.5mm) on your integrated amp or stereo receiver in order to synchronize power on/off functions.

Detachable AC Power Cord with Auto Standby: The JBL MP350 Classic comes with a detachable 58" AC power cord (IEC 2-prong) that will need to be plugged into the back of the network audio streamer and into an AC power outlet or surge protector/line-condition (sold separately). The MP350 Classic network audio streamer will automatically go into Standby mode if there is not audio signal or operation for approximately 20 minutes.

Firmware & Software Downloads: The firmware in the JBL integrated amplifier can be updated from a USB thumbdrive containing firmware update files. You can download the latest firmware file, together with upgrading instructions, from the JBL website. Firmware & software downloads are not supported over a network connection.
