Frequently asked questions

  • Private offers empower custom deal-making within the marketplace. They provide benefits like negotiated pricing, private terms and conditions, and specialized configurations. Currently, the Microsoft commercial marketplace offers the following types of private offers:

    • Private offers for customers give ISV partners the ability to create a private offer to sell directly to a customer. If the customer has a Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC), the sale can count towards the customer’s commitment if the offer is Azure IP co-sell incentivized.
    • CSP private offers give ISV partners the ability to extend a margin to motivate partners in the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program to sell their solution. This gives ISVs an advocate for their product while helping them sell at scale in the SMB market. For CSP partners, it gives them the opportunity to package ISV solutions with their software and services sales to offer unique customer value. A common scenario is the CSP partner will sell Microsoft 365 licenses and package a Microsoft Teams SaaS service to the license sale.
    • Multiparty private offers empower partners to come together, create personalized offers with custom payouts, and sell directly to Microsoft customers with simplified selling through the marketplace. And for customers that have a Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC), the sale will count towards their commitment when they purchase solutions that are Azure IP co-sell eligible (unlike CSP private offers). Currently, multiparty private offers are available to customers in the United States.
  • To qualify for multiparty private offers, partners must be members of the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program and actively selling through the Microsoft commercial marketplace.

ISVs or partners that build software or SaaS solutions must have a transactable offer with public plan(s) available to participate in multiparty private offers. If the ISV is new to Microsoft or does not yet have a transactable offer and needs assistance, ISV Success can help. Additionally, there are weekly marketplace office hours to help ISVs get support for listing a transactable offer on their own.

Selling partners must be active members of the Microsoft Cloud Partner Program, enrolled in the commercial marketplace, have a tax profile set up in Partner Center, and have a resale certificate on file in Partner Center.

Note: Multiparty private offers are currently limited to customers purchasing in the United States. While the selling partner doesn’t need to be based in the United States, they’ll need to have a US tax profile set up in Partner Center for marketplace to be eligible to sell multiparty private offers.

  • Multiparty private offers are now available to customers purchasing in the United States. Partners anywhere in the world can participate if the selling partner has a US tax ID established with the marketplace. Other geographies will be added soon. Check the technical documentation for details.
