What educators are saying

Great material. It was clear and nicely done. I was thankful for the 3 different choice to choose from.

Description

These three worksheets, labeled Part One, Two, and Three, get progressively more involved and difficult. Part One asked students to understand the parts and pieces of exponential functions; the starting value, the growth or decay factor, and the time interval. It also tests their ability to understand why, how, when, and what to add to or subtract from "1" in order to find the growth or decay factor. I use this first worksheet as a quiz or graded classwork to gauge where my students are after the first day or two of beginning the unit. The first worksheet is included in the preview.

The second worksheet, Part Two, is 12 word problems about growth and decay, and in each of them, there are no tricky questions. It is straightforward in that the starting value, growth or decay rate, and time interval are all given in the word problem.

The third worksheet, Part Three, introduces students to what happens when they have to find one of the three pieces of the exponential function equation. They might be given the ending value but not the beginning value, for instance. Still other questions will introduce time intervals that are more difficult to grasp than just the highly used "annual" or "yearly." There are 10 questions with this worksheet.

**Please note that this is also a DIGITAL version. On the very last page of the PDF, you will be given a link that you can click to "Make a Copy" of the Google doc. This means you can use the activity with Google Classroom, have students do a solely electronic version, or edit the copy you make in order to make any changes you may need to personalize it for your class.
