When plan size matters, plan design matters most

Take a strategic approach to your retirement plan design with Mutual of America
Are you tired of engaging in costly and time-consuming annual plan audits? Recent changes to the Form 5500 may alleviate that concern. Let Mutual of America help to see if you can take advantage of the new rules and avoid an audit.

Changes to the Form 5500 process impact how retirement plan size is calculated. Beginning on the first day of the 2023 plan year, a plan with fewer than 100 participants with account balances would be considered a “small” plan for Form 5500 purposes and be exempt from the audit requirement. But that doesn't mean a plan with 100 participants or more is automatically subject to annual audits. There are nuances in plan design and other strategic steps we can employ that may get your participant count down below the threshold that triggers an audit.
