Bring your family to Cherry Springs, which is widely agreed to be one of the seven best places on earth from which to view the stars. 30,000 stars are visible to the naked eye on a clear night, including occasional meteor showers and the Aurora Borealis. Watch stately elk wandering across the landscape and get an even closer look, on the Kinzua Skywalk. This raised walkway floats at canopy level above forests that turn crimson come fall.

This really is the promised land for families, who are delighted by the range of recreational activities on offer at this park. In summer, take a dip in the water before enjoying a picnic. Boat, fish, and hunt. Hike and bike the park's trails through 15,000 acres of parkland. Horseback ride, or in winter, come ice skating, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing in this scenic environment.

6,000 acres of parkland are adorned with a 2,000 thousand acre lake, overlooked by Bald Eagle Mountain. Few places in the state are as picturesque. Come boating, fishing, and swimming in the summer, or go wildlife watching in the park's wetlands with your family.

More than 40 mi. of trails wind through this 16,000 acre park on the lower slopes of the Pocono Mountains. Monolithic boulders are scattered across a stunning site called Boulder Field, a designated National Natural Landmark. Plenty of picnic tables provide resting spots. Come practise orienteering in the park, or in the winter try cross country skiing and snowmobiling along the park's trails.

Hike across 1,200 acres of parkland in this serene state park with a beautiful lake. A warren of trails thread through the landscape, including cross country skiing and sledding trails in the wintertime. Stop off at one of the picnic spots or try your hand at fishing along the way.

Venture out into 50,000 acres of recreational land within Forbes State Forest and Linn Run. The park is home to the rushing Adam Falls, where you can rest in the picnic area. Trails are used for biking, horseback riding, and snowmobiling in the winter.

Horseback ride along trails to see twenty-two waterfalls, including the 94 ft. Ganoga Falls, falling down the chiselled cliffs. Hike, cross country ski, and snowmobile through 13,000 acres of parkland. Or, in the summer, take a fishing boat out on the lake before diving in for a swim.

Situated on the peninsula of Lake Erie, Presque State Park is a paradise for adventure sports fans. Mountain bike or in-line skate along lakeside trails, or take a boat out on the water. The island is a National Historic Landmark that attracts migrating birds and human visitors with its stunning beaches and ecological diversity.

For some of the most thrilling white water rafting in the eastern United States, come to Ohiopyle. The churning Youghiogheny River cuts through the park in its own dramatic gorge, but there are an additional 20,500 acres to see. In winter, snowmobile, sled, or cross country ski your way around. In the summer, fish, hunt, and go rock climbing.
