I have particular expertise working with clients who struggle with anxiety, OCD, relationship issues, depression, addictions, difficult life adjustments, and grief.
Clients often describe me as authentic, determined, and insightful. I offer direct solutions and evidence-based techniques that will help you solve your problems. I can also dive deeper with you to explore the roots behind your troubles and true self. Clients find my combination of skills-based and insight-oriented therapy to be highly effective as it offers both practical utility and depth. For OCD, I specifically use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

I work with adults on issues such as self-esteem, relationships, trauma, depression, anxiety, and addiction.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, it's my goal to help you feel respected and create a safe environment for you to share whatever you need to during therapy. It is my intention to empower you, strengthen your individuality, help to strengthen your belief that you have great worth, and that you can overcome traumatic events and memories. We are more than the thoughts we have that we're ashamed of, we're more than the worst moments of our lives, much more than our mistakes, and in my practice, I respect the courage it takes to be vulnerable, honest, and open to new ways of thinking.

Let’s face it, life in today’s world is difficult enough to navigate without the added feelings of things like anxiety or depression hanging around as well.

My ideal client struggles with self-esteem, anxiety, and/or neurodivergence. They need reassurance, reframing of insecurities, support, and perhaps encouragement to advocate for themselves. Through therapy, they plan to achieve greater self-confidence, independence, and satisfaction with life. They may want a second opinion on their questions and troubles, perhaps due to societal invalidation, sexism, homophobia, and racism.

I often use a technique called Heart Assisted Therapy, which treats conditions such as panic, PTSD, and phobias.
I believe it is the relationship in therapy that is truly healing. Honesty, compassion and sometimes a sense of humor can be powerful medicine. I enjoy working with people who are truly ready to make some changes in their life, even if they're terrified to do so.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
